I see a lot of people are listing Jackson/Memphis and places like that
I see a big difference between majority Black Democrat and Liberal
I don’t see Jackson as very liberal at al
I get your point here. But in my experience, while blacks are more conservative in some areas, they are generally just as liberal as any other leftist when it comes to social programs, govt. involvement, economics, etc. So that's why I would include those cities. Not just because they vote democrat.

Asheville might lean left, some of them far left, but it’s certainly not militant liberal by any stretch.
I always thought it was funny that in today's "tear down monuments" times, Asheville's Vance monument stands tall in their downtown (he served the Confederacy).

A friend of ours asked if we'd like to get nominated to be members there, as he could get us the required number of sponsors.
I was all about it until I saw the "new member one time fee"
I'll stick to the public courses and mooching for now

In re to Austin, it may not be in ‘The South’ per se, but the reason i’d Include it as one of , if not THE, top Progressive cities in the South, is because it’s a great option for people from the South who are tired of the old-time, conservative attitudes in most Southern cities.. it’s fairly close to Louisiana, so you can get home if needed for family stuff or LSU/Saints games without spending a couple days driving, or flying all day- but you’re in a beautiful area with a Progressive mentality, a great job market, booming economy etc.. . so i’d definitely put it at the top of the list for purposes of this thread.. FWIW, i’m a left-leaning registered Independent who will be voting ABT (Anyone But Trump) in the next election.

A girl from Texas told me to move to Greenville because it’s still a nice city with a good amount of jobs but not too liberal
Greenville-Spartanburg's life depends on auto manufacturing. You're typically going to have more conservative-leaning people working in that industry.
And if you look at the 2016 election by county, just look at upstate SC.

How did Eureka Springs get so liberal? I thought it had the big tall statue of Jesus with the outstretched and there used to be this huge outdoor passion play there.

Asheville touts itself as the Berkeley of the east.

It's far from Berkeley, thankfully.

It has an old, historic downtown and beautiful scenery set in the Ozarks so it draws tourists which draws arts & craft type people (i.e. hillbilly hippies) who sell their wares to the tourists.

Asheville proper is very liberal. But it gets conservative quick once you get out of the city limits.

If Kentucky counts, Louisville is very liberal.

Around this time last year I passed by that very same monument and witnessed a small but vocal gathering of nut jobs protesting the snipping of foreskins, complete with white pants and red stains over the crotches.
Had me rolling every time I thought of it later on. People were passing by and staring in disbelief. What a sight to behold. What a thing to protest.

The largest metro (not city limits, metro) to vote red in 2016 is OKC. OKC is not a particularly large metro.
Pretty much every city of size is blue.
Pretty much every city of size is blue.

I know who is NOT on that list: ST GEORGE

So basically this thread states that people who are educated (or live near colleges), live in communities where there is dense populations and entertainment districts are much more liberal than xenophobic, religious, rednecks who are less tolerant of just about anything and who come from more rural locations?
Who would have thought?
Who would have thought?
