The corvette is 240 feet and is no where in the same conversation as Zumwalt which is 600 feet long.

I realize the difference in classes of ships, just remarking on the similarities in issues between the two ships.

Our Navy has a current inventory of 440 ships
Our Navy boasted 680 ships during the COld War and the rapid build up in the 1980's helped lead to the downfall of USSR when they could not keep up.
We certainly should throw another 100B at the USN but not in this class of ship.
The Seawolf class of submarine was another failure that eventually lead to the highly successful Virginia Class submarine. Hopefully our surface brethern (delightfully nicknamed "targets" by us bubbleheads) recover in a similar manner

Great reference. That's kind of where I was going with it. Apparently the new ship designs that push the idea of stealth are all running into problems, both in the design and execution of the projects. That's across multiple countries and companies. Even if the projects fail, they will apply things they learned from these failed projects towards the next revisions.
Just about every successful staple in our modern military had a less glamorous/successful predecessor. It's just the nature of being on top of the world in military technology; you're going to have a lot of waste.
