Set up alerts through indeed.com and linkedin.com. Apply and be patient. It took me two years to find my new job.

How do they see your personality if you never get called in for an interview?

The best thing about using head hunters/recruiters is it takes the politics out of it.

I've applied for jobs in the past I knew I was perfectly qualified for had everything required in job description and never even got a call or letter saying they got my info.

Jobs that are posted in an industry paper or internet is usually just company checking a box to say they did post it, already knowing who they are going to hire.
I can think of at least 6 jobs I've applied for in past year or 2 that's how it went.

I've gotten more interviews and opportunities through recruiters.
Not even close.

If you're going to lie why stop at the resume.

Figure out who does the interviews, show up and say you were told you had an interview with said person.

OP said he wants to do sales, so he's going to have to sell his belief that he had an interview scheduled hard.

If push comes to shove, sign up with a temp agency. Some income is better than no income. Temp jobs often lead to perminant jobs.

State government ain't hiring. Try parish and local governments and hospitals for admin work. Network. Let your friends of friends of friends know you are looking. Gotta hustle and hang in there. It took my wife six months but she got a job she likes.

Retool your resume, make contacts, but don't give up.

I got laid off and it took me just over 4 months to get a new job. I found it on indeed, just so happened to have the right person look at my resume.

You may get 1000 rejections, believe me I was probably close.

You may doubt your skill set, don't.

I just kept at it and kept tweaking my resume every step of the way.

You'll find something, you just have to keep at it. You're fortunate you have a job where you can show patience and not have to feel rushed into something that's possibly the wrong fit.

Use Craigslist, backpage, indeed, simplyhired, jobcentral. Pounding the pavement does not work. Whenever I went in to a company they gave me a card and was told to apply online.

I agree. The in-person approach is unlikely to work at big companies.

I left a seemingly good job back in May looking for a career change. As of now, I'm still looking for a career as a 28yr old with Construction Mgmt and Logistics/Supply Chain Mgmt degrees. Let me say it's a LOT tougher than I imagined. I've tried every online database and sent probably 50 resumes and have heard back from 4. My issue is that I'm looking for a foot in the door, not some upper level jobs, so I'm willing to do whatever I need to do even if that means sweeping the fricking floor as long as I know there is upside and growth potential. I know since I'm looking to do a 180 in my potential career choice, I need someone to be patient with me and train me and I'm confident I can be the best.....BUT finding that opportunity and the company willing to do this is proving very difficult and frustrating for me. I've been doing manual labor for various companies over the last several months as a filler to keep the bills paid. Good luck to you man

Man really anything preferably construction or supply chain/logistics related. Only thing I haven't tried is a headhunter/recruiter which will be my next step. I know a ton of people so I'm hopeful the longer this goes on and the more people know I'm looking, surely an opportunity will come my way

Baton Rouge, but at this point location isn't a concern to me. I just feel like I'm wasting precious years when I could be building my career and industry knowledge.

Shoot me an email, My U/N at outlook. We don't have anything at the moment but I can ask around and we may be looking soon depending on a few projects that might come through.
