quote:

2013 or 2014, rural Catahoula Parish (or near there). Elementary school age triplets slowly riding an ATV up and down their driveway, father was outside with them. ATV driver turned too sharply at the end of the driveway, ATV fell over into the water soaked ditch. One triplet pinned face up under the upside down ATV, sank into the soggy ground and suffocated before help arrived while his hysterical siblings looked on. Father was unable to extricate him or shift the ATV off him. Didn't know them but stepdaughter did through her husband's family. Was at their house when the call came in about one of the triplets dying, later got the sorrowful details.

When I was in elementary, I had a classmate who had little siblings that were triplets. Two girls, and a boy. They actually lived fairly close to me, relatively speaking. We were pretty close with their family. Anyway, they lived in a big house, and it caught on fire one day with the triplets and maybe the dad and another person inside. Everyone got out of the house except one of the little girl triplets.

It took them days to search through all of the burned rubble, and I remember there being a string of hope that she somehow made it out and ran into the woods to hide for whatever reason, even though most of us pretty much knew. They finally found her remains in the rubble. They ruled it as the dad's scuba diving tank igniting and catching the house on fire, but who knows how it really started.

Very sad time obviously. It was so long ago, I have somewhat forgotten just how sad of a time that was. It seems like a really bad dream at this point.

Friend of mines mom was dating a guy, the guy was stealing tractors off of peoples catfish ponds and scrapping them out. She found out about it, and he shot her, burned her in her car, then burned her again in a bonfire by the river behind his fish ponds, then cut the rest up into little pieces and threw them into the river.

She came up missing, and the FBI was searching for her. Couple of weeks later a Local cop found the engine and a piece of the frame of her car behind his ponds where he had been cutting it up for scrap, and a piece of her jawbone by the fire remnants. The nightman who worked on the catfish farm across from his was a key witness for the trial, and the guy paid 2 black guys as hit men to have the witness killed. THe black guys shot up the guys work truck at night while he was at work, luckily he wasn't killed just got hit in the shoulder and blew off his thumb.

I know a guy who stood on the edge a park bench, placed the noose hanging from a tree branch around his neck, then shot himself in the head, the force pushed him off the bench. he made very sure a mistake did not happen.

He had found out that his wife became pregnant for another guy. The night before his suicide he told me the story about his wife cheating. I was still shocked though, The dude was at work the night before, I could not have seen this happening the next day by his mood.

Trains are dangerous. Coupling and de-coupling is not a job you'd want.

Knew a guy in high school that complained about a toothache, went to the dentist, couldn't find anything. Months later went back, and dentist told him the same thing. This time referred him to a neurologist. Neurologist diagnosed him with metastatic brain cancer. He died two weeks later. Absolutely terrible.

You just never know when your day is coming.

A maintenance worker forgot a wrench in the industrial machine (at least that's what they think) after he told the operator to go ahead and run it. Operator started the machine, but the maintenance guy had stuck his head and arm back into the machine to retrieve his tool. Crushed head / broken neck. Terrible

Also know someone who jumped in front of an 18-wheeler as his choice for suicide

Not someone I knew, but I witnessed a man and a small girl (presumably his child) die from a lightning strike during a storm in Gulf Shores when I was 12 or 13. Pretty surreal to sit out on the balcony and see it happen from 300 or 400 feet away.

Guy on my job site was transporting pile leads with a hammer on a flatbed.

He was driving down a two way, four lane street going about 30 mph when a girl driving opposite direction swerved in front of him to make a u-turn. He slammed on his brakes and the pile hammer kept moving forward. Went straight through the cab of the truck. Guy was alive for a few minutes after it happened. Looked like a scene from a horror movie when I got out there.

Truck driver saved the girl and her passengers life too. Really rough day when it happened.

I once saw detailed photographs taken by serial killer, Bobby Joe Long where he took photos of his victims as he raped and killed them. I will never get that out of my head. The terror on those women's faces was unimaginable.

I was stationed at NTC Orlando. Sailor walking in a parking lot to class in a thunderstorm. Lightning strikes, knocks him unconscious and he drowns in a puddle

a few years ago some people I knew died in a high speed car wreck when their car slammed into the back of a parked flat bed tow truck

A guy I was friend with in high school was operating a crane holding the sign for the old Bon Marche Theatre when something went wrong and the sign fell on him, killing him instantly.

Another friend of mine, from high school, was ejected through the t-top of her friends car,
which came down on top of her crushing her to death.

One of our neighbors was killed by his nephew while deer hunting, and a friend of my brother's was killed by his cousin while hunting.

My sister's friend's brother was killed when a drilling rig exploded, impaling him with the drilling pipe. He was not even on the rig and was, what he thought, a safe distance away.
