I saw a guy who had overdosed and ended up having a seizure in the middle of the street. Apparently he got thrown out of the bar as we were walking up. Medics came and tried reviving him for about 5 min... No success... they put him on a stretcher and walked back to the ambulance.

Eta: didn't know him but still pretty fricked up

My uncle, a volunteer fireman in pineville/libuse, fell into his own yard fire about 8 years ago and died.
He was a good man, and whenever I get together with his daughters or my other cousins, Uncle Mike stories are told.

I once saw detailed photographs taken by serial killer, Bobby Joe Long where he took photos of his victims as he raped and killed them. I will never get that out of my head. The terror on those women's faces was unimaginable

How did you manage this?

My great uncle was a roughneck offshore, was decapitated while drilling out there. Made me sick.

While working in the ER, (I'm an RN) a six week old baby was brought in. The baby was dead, mother was obese and had rolled over on it while napping on the couch. She had no idea til she woke up. Even though the baby was in RM (rigor mortis) we still had to try to resuscitate it. Really a sad day.

A former colleague of my fiancé committed suicide last night. Single gunshot to the head while he was sitting on the couch. He was an extremely charismatic and business savvy man in his 60's. He was President and CEO for the company he worked for. He was also the team doctor for the Miami Dolphins for a stretch. Everyone that knew him seems to be in shock as they can't believe a man like him would take his own life after dedicating so much of his own to save others.

Crazy stuff, you never know what is right around the corner.

Same exact thing happened to me on Bourbon St one night, except medics weren't on the scene nearly that quickly.

I was sent to a rig in Utah where the day before a rig hands head was crushed from a stupid driller dropping the blocks on him. He pushed another guy out of the way but couldn't get clear of the blocks himself

One good friend died from being ran over by a crewboat. Was going duck hunting and I was suppose to go with him that morning, but couldn't make it.

A stupid driller crushed my left hand when I was a roughneck in the gulf in 1988. I knew a guy that got cut in half by a load dropped from a crane. He didn't know he was cut in half and was asking people to help him up before he died. I also knew a guy that for some reason got under a load and his head was crushed. The next day the crane operator that had worked with the guy for 15 years was standing around laughing about it. I almost got fired
