frick thatbook. God I hated it. Total garbage.
Those who said American Psycho book are probably right. Book makes the movie look like a Disney cartoon.
Though, I'll throw out an off the wall suggestion. Ender's Game. When you really think about what they did to a 6 year old. frick.

"Reservoir Dogs" is pretty damn disturbing as movies go.

The book "It" terrified me. I can't watch the new version of the movie after seeing the trailers.
The Town That Dreaded Sundown was the movie that got me. It was loosely based on a serial killer in 1946 that was never caught.

Just read Johnny Got His Gun
Me and some friends read this in my freshmen english class in high school. We were all shocked that our teacher knew we only wanted to read it because of Metallica. Good book though.

Sybil was a pretty fricked up read for me as a middle schooler.
I didn't know it was a hoax at the time.

Highlight of reading that book, we got to watch the music video in class and learned our teacher was a huge Metallica fan. She really hated that we referred to him as "Nubby" the whole time.

I hate reading with a passion, but the last book I read a LOOOOONG time ago was Helter Skelter.
My goodness I don't know where to begin in order to describe the depravity of Manson and his ilk. Those were some sick fricks that carried out some extremely brutal murders. How any of them are walking the street today is unreal. I don't care how "brainwashed" they may have been at the time.

I always thought the ending to "The Mist" was pretty fricked up. "Muppets Take Manhattan" was dark.

"Night" by Elie Wiesel is pretty disturbing.

Requiem for a Dream.
Seconded. All in all, I'd say Jennifer Connelly's character got the worst deal of them all.
ETA: Oh and Chuck Palahniuk's "Haunted" - Specifically, the short story, "Guts."
