Yeah I think that would be a fair assumption. I dont see how increasing salinity in the body of water will damage the levees. There are areas further to the mouth of the river which might lose vegetation and erode, but not where we have gigantic levees built up.

GTFO with this crap. They screamed to high heaven last time they flooded Morganza. I Do like how you painted the picture of these being just good ole cajun's living their little ole lives. The Land that was government owned was sold for pennies on the dollar because its planned floodway. And the and that wasnt government owned, the owners got a handsome settlement when the floodway was built.
Wrong
quote:
keep painting that perdy picture. And i absolutely enjoy that burden they carry. It was hilarious looking at these same people you are talkin about, bitching on the news and facebook the last time morganza was flooded. Saying how they couldnt believe the government was going to flood their lands and camp, wondering who was going to compensate them.
Wrong again.
And FSA crop insurance doesn’t cover livestock and pays about 20%on the dollar adjusted up if land is precision leveled and irrigated but a lot of that land was left out due to Chinese tariffs and not planted anyway. And these people may complain but they are just complaining as anyone would when life hits you in the head with a brick, not unlike anyone around here or Texas that complained when their houses flooded. They didn’t blame the government for rain or high water.
Plus very few actually live full time in the area it is mainly a few in Butte LaRose. The rest are camps.
And by your standards no one should even live in the city of New Orleans being below sea level and all.
It must suck going through life getting off on people’s hardships.

Facebook link. Weather discussion for Arkansas river
Only link I could find was for facebook. The Arkansas River shed area expected to get a lot of rain through the week. Doesnt look like any relief in sight from that direction

The Miss. above Cairo, IL is also at major flood too. As long as the Ohio plays nicely I dont think it will go up further.

Wrong

Wrong again.
quote:thats cool. Camps that are on floodway land that they got for a fraction of the cost outside the floodway.

quote:Well if you want to get into that debate we can. Engineers have said for a century that the city of new orleans should have never gotten to the size it is. It is a FACT.
nd by your standards no one should even live in the city of New Orleans being below sea level and all.
quote:getting off? are you some kinda of freak? I just think it is funny these people bitching about a hardship they signed up for.
It must suck going through life getting off on people’s hardships.

Link all this government blaming you keep referrring to.
And link government selling land for nothing and owners getting “handsome” settlements.

North BR is built on high ground. That is why there are no levees next to Southern.

On the subject of future rainfall...
This has roughly been the pattern in place for the last two weeks:
Trough out west, ridge in the east. Directing storm systems up through Oklahoma, Kansas, Arky, Missouri. The western trough has also let cold air come down from up north, producing big temperature gradients for systems to work with.
Where they have been clashing has produced a ton of rain.
There's good news though in the mid range, as this pattern appears set to break into a typical summer pattern.
This will yield a drier regime over the midwest.
While still a little above normal across the southern plains, it's not nearly as wet as compared to the next seven days.

There must be a bunch of sightseers or workers up at the ORCS complex. Google maps shows a lot of traffic on the LowSill and at the locks also. Don’t usually see traffic there.

There has been a lot of construction there lately. Down to one lane over the structures with stop lights at each end that take forever to turn green.
