Not much can be done without the liberals accepting the consequences of the 2016 election and the clean Mueller Report. Until someone treats AOC and her 2 Arab scissoring partners like Chandra Levy we're going to be stuck with their bullshite rather than solving the f'ing problem with water and land management practices. Unfortunately none of it will happen and we'll be dangerously close to being a failed state in 18 months.
Gah damn, might have to get my boots out before the water even gets here

Correct. But once again, the morganza opening itself is of little effect for them.
Where do you think all that water is coming from in Belle River? That’s why the barges are being placed, to stop it from getting any worse. We’ve had place on Graveyard island since 77, I’m pretty sure this is going to be the record.
2011 the barges were in place before shite hit the fan. Outside the levees were brown grass it was powder dry down here.

The Morganza opening is a big deal and this thread started out with discussion on the high Mississippi River levels and their effects on the entire area, including the Morganza spillway.
Discussion has now resumed after another poster bumped this thread recently. I simply updated it.

You people really do exist

Couple things.
1. You’re a dumbass if you actually believe the “dry” ground can absorb water to prevent a flood of trillions of gallons.
2. Water will rise in the stephensville, lake palourde, Verrett area. It comes in thru Bayou Chene and goes north from “back” water. It slows down the flow of belle river as well.

How are you going to blame the liberals if we're "a failed state in 18 months" when the conservatives have all the power? Why aren't you complaining about them wasting time trying to overturn decades-old decisions and taking away rights instead of solving actual problems?

The water will rise. But my only point is the rise in stephensville and verret area is not significant compared to most areas regarding the morganza
It will be less than a foot rise. Some areas see over 10 feet
Can we agree on that?

It's crazy to me how records will be broken despite being multiple feet lower on the Atchafalaya than 2011 was.
It's not really crazy when I think about the length of the flooding, but on the surface it seems counterintuitive.

In 2011 they predicted 0-5 feet of rise in Assumption Parish due to Morganza. That's quite the range, but still the lowest range they issued.

Where did I say it could absorb trillions of gallons of water? Just pointing out the difference between the two sides of the levees.

Well said. Glad someone said what needed to be said

If it were to rise 5 feet, which just seems impossible to be looking at the map and historical trends in the stephensville area, then they are completely fricked.

I’ll post the water levels the day before opening and throughout the opening of the morganza. I’ll post th atchafaya water level at Morgan City gauge and take pics from 4 mile bayou
Will be interesting to see

We’ve seen the spillway and belle river get shallower since then, carrying capacity just isn’t what it used to be. Obviously a system wide problem, but 2011 the barges kept the backwater flooding in check. It was strange at the duck lease in bayou black the water flowed north to south pretty much non stop for a while. Bass fishing was stupid

Perfect storm
All of the Mississippi flood plain has been soaked for a year
Water is already high
Intracoastal dumps into Lake Palourde through backflow, which will be made worse by SW winds
That whole area is in for a wild ride for the next 6 weeks
