Eh. Part of something being a buzzword is it being used as a crutch because the person can’t make any sort of legitimate argument.

Scarf-wearing dork is the argument

Its in the music. If you can't tell, good for you. You can listen to almost anything. Pop music is written for the maximum amount of money it can bring in, there's very little "art" involved. Nothing wrong with pop music, as long as you realize its "fun party music" and not actual art.

But beauty is in the eye of the beholder, yes? A lot of these pop singers started out as starving artists and became huge successes. Taylor Swift was writing songs in middle school, and she plays like 4 instruments.

Am I supposed to knock her because people fall over themselves for her? The real issue is the people who think the less popular bands are better - deeper - more soulful - more artistic - because the unwashed masses don't like them.

If Taylor Swift just played little dive bars in Portland - same lyrics - would you think it was art?

And here's ole Gibbard complaining that Spotify doesn't pay him enough.

quote:

The way that streaming revenue is divvied up is is highly inequitable. If I spend $10 a month for, you know, Spotify or something like that, I want that money to go to the artists I’m actually listening to. I don’t want that $10 to go to Taylor Swift and Post Malone. But that’s how it works. And to me, that’s incredibly unfair and unethical. The only way I can support an artist that I love is by spending money to see them live and not necessarily by being able to purchase their music. If I were king, we would get away from this model where all the money is going to the largest streaming artists. I mean, what the f–k is that?

Billboard.com

The reason people pay for these services is because the big artists agree to be on them. They certainly don't need the money at this point. And he can donate to any artist he "loves" at any time. Good grief.

They rarely existed before cable tv and internet.

Stuff like the Food Channel made every housewife think she's a food critic.

There’s a record shop near me run by this old burnout with long hair and massive bald spot. They had a Rob Zombie live album for like 2 bucks so I gave it a shot. frickhead started lecturing me on how this was Rob Zombie and not White Zombie like I wasn’t already fricking aware.

If he wanted to dissuade me from buying that album then he could have given me a heads up that Rob zombie sounds terrible live. That would have been solid info to have at the register.

ETA: he also would only let one person in at a time, give them a mask and gloves, and still throw a bitch fit every time you touch something. This was well after our then democrat governor lifted mask mandates and the limited number of people indoors. So that should definitely tell you he wasn’t all there mentally

If you dont think morgan is writing any of his songs then you are obviously just incorrect. Obviously writing is a collaborative effort for him when his albums have 38 songs on them haha

Oh this is hilarious then. I just assumed dipshit knew what he was talking about.

Country star, Morgan Wallen, has plenty of radio hits on his own, and he’s written a handful of them on his albums. From his Billboard charting album, Dangerous: The Double Album, he wrote “Wasted On You,” “Somebody’s Problem,” “Neon Eyes,” “More Than My Hometown,” “7 Summers” and more. But did you know that Morgan Wallen is also a sought-after songwriter in Nashville? He is signed to a publishing deal with Big Loud Publishing and over the years he has written songs for OTHER artists. Here’s a list of those songs that Morgan Wallen has written for Nashville’s biggest stars.

again with DCFC as if they are the only band i've ever listened to but yes, they are a rock band despite what you have heard. indie rock, alternative rock. whatever you want to label them as. here's an example:

wallen does not write his own songs. they are written for him by a team of writers and his name gets put on them to give him BMI and ascap royalties. you don't know how nashville works clearly.

Yep. Same songs. Different production.

Furthermore, “country music” in 2023 is not really a genre of music. It’s a production technique, which is why most of what you hear on the radio, be it Stapleton, Wallen, Underwood, Strait, or Jelly Roll sounds exactly the same.

It doesn’t bother me, but I’m just saying.

100%. it's the same producers. the same writers. the same productions. it's a system and it's very profitable.

That’s because you absolutely refuse to ever tell us which bands you listen to, and we had to pull from a list from your posting history.

This is how I know that YOU know that you’ve lost any sort of argument you’ve ever had in this thread.

Oh… So what you’re saying is that other artists in country music are giving him BMI credit just because they feel like giving away money. As well as the music industry…..known for their long history of treating their artists right and absolutely NEVER trying to milk as much money out of them as humanly possible….

You’re such an idiot. I would have abandoned this thread long ago if watching you desperately try to twist your arguments wasn’t so damned entertaining
