Sigh. This is the type of timeless excuse racist white people like to use. Why does it bother so many people that they can’t use the word?! “It’s like slavery is gone and we can’t own you, Please let us use the word too, because we have to own everything”

Bottom line is you don’t get to. Just like my wife can call me honey or babe, but it’s different if someone outside of that relationship tries to use that towards me. This is so simple…but people struggle with it. It all comes down to ignorance and the unwillingness to accept the fact it means something different coming from white people.
