MORE TAXES! (Gas, Sales, etc)

Firstly, we need to cut the budget a lot more. But we do need some taxes once that is done.
#1 Abolish the State Income Tax
#2 Our roads are pitiful, I'm down with tying road work solely down to a combination of tolls and gas tax hikes which would be the only source of funds. If you can afford a car, then pay for roads. And tie insurance proof to toll booths, you don't have insurance, you don't drive.
#3 Raise sales taxes on non-neccessities such as cable TV, sports tickets, clothing (see below) , movies, electronics, etc. Everyone who can afford a 70in HDTV pays.
#4 restrict EBT cards to state stores that sell only discounted generic, healthy food and neccessities like generic diapers tax free. Food in regular grocery stores will be taxed and cash/credit. If you want Filet Mignon, then you'll have to pay for it. These stores would also offer discounted generic tax free clothing. No fashion, just clothing that keeps you warm and covered. Like irregulars.
I don't see how this is bad. Poor people get adequate food and clothing, and everyone else pays for their luxuries.
With no state income tax, if you do work, you get to keep much more of your money - allowing poor people to buy nicer non-neccessities.
I know this will never happen but the road we're on now is unsustainable. One steak on EBT can feed 4 ppl eating something lesser with no impact on hunger or health. The money saved can be used for other important services. No one should go hungry, or not be clothed. Or have not have baby formula or diapers. But you also don't need filet, designer clothes, or the most expensive pampers.
People on budgets make these decisions all the time, it's tough. But better to get a handle on this now then when the whole thing collapses.

You know what I'm getting at is having LESS overall taxes because these will be a lot less spending.

Or, and maybe this is the crazy in me talkin, Louisiana could offer a more business friendly tax structure to incentivize companies to create jobs, thereby increasing tax revenues with economic growth and increased salaries.
Nah, that would never work! - signed, Texas.

I'm all for more regulations on EBT cards but it's crazy to me that there are currently people starving in our country

Sales Tax everybody pays when they consume their fair share..

I agree with the EBT thing. Those people don't need special amenities.. just the basics.

This seems kinda political....

People with food stamps aren't typically buying steaks. They load their carts with cokes, chips, and other junk food.

Liberals love them some taxes. They haven't met a tax they didn't like.

so you want the state to employee people to monitor these toll booths?

$0 state dollars are used to fund EBT cards. And in this plan you want the state to get into the business of running grocery stores? I'm sure those will be the best run grocery stores around. Sounds like you're one of those BIG government people.
I hope you don't have any plans on getting into politics because these are all garbage ideas. I'd say don't quit your day job, but you're probably pretty bad at that too.

No. Cut the budget and make it work with what you have coming in. If they can keep raising taxes they have neither motivation nor incentive for cutting the budget.

Louisiana ranks No. 7 in the US in the number of state guberment jobs, per capita.
LA ranks 25th in the nation in population. Yet our state gov is about the size of Pennsylvania's, which ranks 5th in population.

how about do away with the EBT cards all together and have the people in need get in line for powered milk, can goods, and cheese like they did back in the day?
