It's the other way around now. There's a direct correlation between poverty and obesity. Strange times.
Food stamps allowing purchases of shitty processed food and junk food
If you only allow food stamps to purchase lean meat, canned fruits and veggies and staples you’d see less fat fricks

There absolutely is more to it than diet and exercise. I'm one of three children in my family. I have a shitty diet-two moon pies and a glass of milk for lunch today. I exercise but not fanatically. And I'm a normal weight.
My sister has struggled with her weight all her life. You wouldn't know it by looking at her because she keeps it under control with a maniacal exercise routine and a diet that's borderline anorexia. My brother also struggles with weight and has basically given up.
Similar upbringings, similar genetics, different outcomes.

Very true. The SNAP website has documents giving lots of suggest meals to plan to stretch the dollars and while getting real nutrition. They just don't enforce anything.

Other 20% is hormone optimization. If your thyroid ain’t working or testosterone levels are low. Will be difficult to lose weight
Some truth to this, but if they were properly dieting and exercising, then wouldn't all of those doctors that were admonishing them have checked into the hormone/thyroid issues? And I am sure it would have been pointed out several times in the article as some many articles/studies love to blame everything on the thyroid.

You just showed that it is about diet and exercise. It's just that different people can eat the same food and have different results. They have to do what works for their metabolism and activity level.
It is impossible to be obese if you don't eat more calories than you burn.

Jesus Christ, is personal responsibility even a thing anymore or are we just going to make excuses and give a free pass to everyone?
As a fat guy myself, I 100% know that I'm fat b/c I don't exercise enough and I eat too much crap. I accept that. Yes, major lifestyle and eating changes can be hard, especially if you grew up in sedentary household with poor eating habits, but that's not society's fault. If you want to lose weight, eat less and move more. That's all there is to it, and anyone that says they eat right and they exercise but still can't lose weight is lying.

I can speak with authority and personal experience on this issue of obesity.
My weight has gone from 180 to 280 over the course of my life and back and forth several times.
Everytime I exercise EVERY day and reduce my caloric intake to less than 2000 calories - magically all the weight comes off.
Every.
Time.
It’s not a mystery.

Obesity went up when smoking went down. Just sayin.
Some sorority girls I knew in college swore by the juicy fruit and cigarette diet before a big formal or party.
By God, it worked but good lord were they cranky in the lead up lol.
