Last big market crash before this recent one RR had some of the highest rates of power being turned off for delinquencies in the area. A ton of people in there are check to check.

Redstick, I know you have had a rough go recently. Keep your head up bud.
Are you back in LA?

I heard that too but nobody could tell me where the information came from. In other words it was a rumor.

"During the natural gas boom Encana started a drilling campaign in Washington state. The worst rigs I've ever seen that stayed broken down and some of the toughest rock as well"

you were one of the few!!!! can make a case for the play.... but can not really image it easily with seismic... and cost for drilling volcanics...was on my wish list but never could figure out how to explore it... yall targeted the thinnest area of volcanics to look underneath... gets a lot thicker elsewhere...

and tms probably dead... certainly desytoyed a few good companies....:(. probably getting interest ftom a few promoters out of miss...

I can recall the fellas last name but I heard it directly from someone who was with Slemco at the time.

I knew a couple people who lived in there that no way could afford it, hairdressers.

Not sure which company qualifies as good. Certainly not goodrich. Devon is a black hole also. Encana I suppose should be selling drugs after their name change to ovintiv. Talk about a fall from grace for them from Canadian powerhouse to waiting to file for bankruptcy.

Slemco doesn’t provide utilities for RR. It was a unsubstantiated rumor

That's LUS as well? He was/is in the energy business so I gave him credence.

Oh...wait...

Thanks you stupid fricking Republicans

Dude, the oil companies were run out of here by Edwin Edwards. The Republicans weren’t even a factor back then. It took them 25 years, with Katrina putting the finishing touches, but they were all gone by 2006.

My sauce back in early 2000 was a realtor I had insured, weird guy but he was in the loop. Lot of pretend millionaires in RR and more pretentious than the avg Lafayette crowd.
Was told many couldn’t afford furniture after the purchase price and taxes. Will never miss that part of laffy.

It's a microcosm of Dallas but with no where near the money.

Dont miss that at all either. And now that the hipsters have taken over and killed the strip and downtown. RIP Laff O&G industry and party life.

I agree. I saw no real signs of this. Only rumors here

Outside of the multi million dollar houses on the river, there were/ are a lot of posers there. Paying a huge premium for a tiny house with no yard.

To answer Paul Allen’s question, it’s still more expensive than other areas of lafayette, but some of the price premium has gone down

Urban Myth. River Ranch(like all of Lafayette) gets power and water from LUS, Lafayette Utility System. I have only seen one or two foreclosures in RR in the last 10 years. Many of houses are second homes for people that have family in the area.
