Ruston has to be one of the most boring places I’ve ever been to, can’t imagine going to college there

And this statement is based on what exactly?

My opinion after having seen Alexandria, Shreveport, Monroe, LC, Lafayette, Houma, BR, Northshore, and NOLA. Lemme guess... you live in Ellick?

we didn't "have to" as I have pointed out a few times, but occasionally we did

If you're a big-time farmer or a landman Catahoula/Concordia Parish is damn near paradise. Otherwise, you made the correct choice.

any place local new and fun would fail as people worshiped olive garden and logans...there was basically no local music scene..

What time period are you talking about? The Monroe music scene has waxed and waned many times in my life but there has always been a strong list of local restaurants.

That dude has no earthly idea what he's talking about. He comes in every Monroe thread and proves it.

I never heard this term used in Monroe... people from Ouachita parish never refer to Monroe as this... it's Roe City

20 years ago, Ruston was essentially dry, so yeah..

I've heard it a million times. Usually in a playfully mocking way. There was a bar called Funroe's in the late '80s.

Never heard that ever. Friday and crew are kinda branding it as The Roe, but I don't really hear people say that in real life. Funroe has been a term moderately used forever.

2011-2016 ish. One of the more demoralizing hits was watching live oak open, saw what they put into making it a top notch venue and just as quickly shut down cause no one supported that. Other than that I didn't see much musically other than the occasional act at enochs and raqndom guitar player at the rivermarket which I also saw open with a bang and slowly wither in my time there

Yeah that was a dead period. The Shamrock/Tomcat/Depot had become Harvey's Dance Hall and that was a big blow. Cartoon was long dead. Sixth Street was still there but their booking was always erratic . And Enoch's had moved to the present location which is great but much smaller than the behind-the-donut-shop location that became the current Shananigan's. Much rowdier shows at that Enoch's. I saw some great shows there, despite the lingering smell of throw-up. GG Shinn's between 18&19th might have still been open, I can't remember. When Live Oaks was MissQues there was a separate bar in the corner of the building that had a lot of metal bands. (Not The Corner Bar, that was the gay bar across the street).
