How does the cop know they are drunk just because they are in a bar??? Isn’t that assuming a bit much??
Posted on 7/28/25 at 3:21 pm to Dawgfanman
No you said a cops job is to prevent felonies.
I want you to tell me how that happens.
They drove? They didn't prevent a felony. The person is getting a DUI. Nothing was prevented.

Wasn’t the point that you said they couldn’t have prevented it..when in fact they could have in this example. They knew which car to pull because they already knew the person was drunk before they got behind the wheel.

That was a different person you responded to.
I love your avoidance of answering this simple question.

If a cop is dealing with someone upset or frantic is their first step in training to de escalate or act like an a-hole and threaten them?

Women really need to start learning their place in this world

I quoted you.

Even moreso when kids are involved...
The cop and woman are both wrong. Neither had a reasonable reaction.
His duty is to keep the peace and write a ticket. He abandoned both of those duties when he purposely wouldn't hand her the ticket and then threatened her. Everything that happened after that was a direct response to his escalation of events.
If a cop is dealing with someone upset or frantic is their first step in training to de escalate or act like an a-hole and threaten them?

Never heard of being required to admit guilt and document such on the side of the road.

I didn't avoid it. I answered it.
I said go back and watch the video again. Maybe you'll remember it this time.
Edit:
Guess you didn't go back and watch the video again and just downvoted.. oh well, maybe next time you'll get it right.

as a former cop... This dudley doo right wanted this interaction to happen. You can tell a street cop vs these type of dudes

pretty stupid to call this a felony assault. There should be some misdemeanor being a jerk ticket instead.
I’m polite and get out of tickets. This woman was a bitch and deserved her ticket doubled. Triple it if you have to but taking you out of your vehicle and face planting you into the ground and sending you to prison for battery for THAT?! Yeah frick that cop. Perhaps the law then, as you said there should be misdemeanors for that behavior. I’d vote for that law. Rising that to the level of assault is tyrannical

That dude was itching to rip her out of the car. Typical douchebag cop that can't handle the fact that people don't have to show them all the respect 8n the world. She threw the pen, cite her for littering then and go on with the day.
I will say it again.. as a former cop.. you can tell who was never going to be a street cop and make a real difference.

A guy has hostages. That guy is on edge and could kill the hostages. Should the cop try to de escalate and prevent further escalation or piss off the guy with hostages? Which one prevents murder and another felony from occurring? There you go sir, an example of preventing a felony through de escalation.. I'm not even a cop and I'm pretty sure their first step in everything is de escalate.

The husband didn't seem surprised.
Posted on 7/28/25 at 5:01 pm to rickgrimes
She’s no doubt making YouTube videos and Reddit posts about her avoidant narcissistic husband and how he’s failing her and she wishes he would be emotionally intelligent like she is.

Signing the ticket is not supposed to be an admission of guilt. Just an acknowledgement you have received it.
Courts have ruled that action is wholly not required nor is refusal to sign grounds for arrest, no different than getting a parking ticket which you obviously don't sign for.
When pressed for this, cops will say it's their procedure, but make no mistake. They want the vast majority of us to think its required by law no different than a consentual request for ID or may we come in the home request.

Cop definitely had it out for her before she even rolled down the window (“I guess your little radar detector didn’t work”). But, her husband’s reaction also says a lot about her.
At the end of the day,
1. This is a bad look for the cop, and he will probably get made fun of when he’s not around, if he doesn’t already.
2. I doubt she will ever throw a pen at a cop again.

Felony assault by tossing a pen.

A person who has hostages has already committed a felony.
But yeah, in hostage situations it's certainly best to de-escalate. And they do, I've seen videos of people with hostages. I've seen cops talk down criminals with kidnapped kids in the car.
The cop gave that woman many passes as she was being completely obnoxious. Even the cop was saying "I know that's not against the law" when talking to her husband.. I bet she was already worked up from the kid exchange with her husband so she was just ready to bitch out on somebody.
I did tell my wife it would be embarrassing when he tells people he got assualted, and they would ask what happened.. he'd have to say she "hit me with a pen"...
The cop did put up with her crap many times until she wouldn't roll down the window.
Did he handle her too rough? I don't know. Maybe... Like I said many times, we watch a ton of those cop cam shows on youtube. About every cop I've seen hits a point when they are finally over the BS, then they get real.
Nothing changes a person's attitude quicker than handcuffs.

We'll have plenty more cop videos to argue about I bet.
