I always watch these with a slight presumption in favor of the cops because it’s a tough job, but here you can hear in the cops voice that he’s power tripping and wanting to escalate. This would have been much better as one of those videos showing the citizens being an a-hole but the cop showing his professionalism in not getting triggered by it.

title of video should be "when two assholes collide".

I mean, yeah, she threw a pen at him.

If I'm on that jury, frick that cop.

How much should that cop have allowed that woman to do before he arrested her?

You're ignorant and pretentious.
Bad way to go through life.

I'm not lowering my iq by watching and I don't know what state she's in. But where i'm at you are not admitting guilt if you sign and accept, you are just signing that you were there.

I get not watching it but why would you comment about something you know nothing about? Nothing in your post is relevant to my question because it doesn’t apply to wherever it was filmed.

The cop clearly states that you can either opt for court, or admit guilt and pay the fine, and you need to sign which you are doing right now.

At every fricking stage he escalated the situation. She has accountability for joining him on the road, but he doesn’t get credit for “handling it well.”

No he didn't.

3) The cop whining about "that's assault" was pretty terrible. We get it, this chick is being an a-hole, but hearing a grown man yell, "you just hit me with a pen and that is assault" is pretty hilarious.

Assault is assault. She knew what she was doing. She got what she deserved.

Cops are assholes and look for any excuse to escalate a situation. It's a perk of the job for them.

People are assholes and justify their bad actions every way they can. In their heads, they never do anything wrong. The woman escalated this situation in every way.

Wait, by signing the ticket you admit to guilt in that jurisdiction?

How do you fight a ticket in that jurisdiction?

He said you can argue the ticket in court in front of the magistrate or admit guilt and pay the fine.

It's all in the video.

What cop you know doing that after you throw a pen at them??

You don't watch many of these videos do you? You haven't seen all the human shite cops have to deal with all the time huh?

This video here is NOTHING compared to most out there...

Virtually guaranteed that woman doesn’t ever like being told she is wrong and frequently gets away with shite because “she’s got three kids with her”.

He did give her the ticket.

Ok that's besides the point? People get tickets and they get aggravated or don't necessarily want to be best friends with a cop. Cops are trained for that and its quite normal. The woman got a ticket and was upset. That is in the normal realm of emotions. The cop immediately escalating and threatening with kids in the car is not in that realm. You can tell this by how quickly he jumped at the opportunity to rip her out of the car in front of her kids without trying to just get out there and move on.

Justifying assault on a police officer?

The woman was a rude bitch, but IWHI. The cop was a prick from the jump too. She may benefit from a day in lockup and he may benefit from his buddies laughing at what a douche he is in the video. "Felony assault" on his ego.

I feel bad for the husband; this shite ruined his scouting trip. I hope he managed to have a good (assuming turkey) season anyway.

One question: if a cop tossed a pen at a citizen, is that assault and how likely are they to be charged?

Yes, it's assault. I think.the definition of assault is way too broad these days, but that's assault.

Law enforcment gets sued all the time. Officers get suspended/fired all the time.

What if she had spat on him instead of throwing a pen? It's just a little spit.. why get upset?

They just had a thread on here a week or so back about a guy that was spat on by an off duty cop. Police told him it wasn't a crime.

But she didn’t spit at him. I’ll go on record and say that had the cop tossed something at her (pen/paper/etc) in a similar manner he would not ever be charged with assault.

That said, I enjoyed watching this lady get her “comeuppance”.
