I hate that “ can we show you a demonstration of a rainbow vacuum, so I can get mine for free” My wife’s friend talked her into watching that shite once. I told the girl don’t get your hopes up honey because there is no way in hell I’m paying 2 grand for a vacuum. I think I embarrassed my wife and her friend , I came away looking like an arse hole but my wife tells people no now

We got an invite from a friend we hadn’t seen in a few years to come over and BBQ. We were super excited to see them and catch up. In the midst of this we were also in the middle of relocating to TN and I had just got laid off.

About thirty mins into hanging out he and his girlfriend start a pitch for some MLM crap. I cut them off in about 45 seconds and tore him a new one saying how excited we were to see them and how he was trying to make a buck while we’re in a tough financial spot. The room fell silent and I just said “yeah man I think it’s time we leave”. Haven’t talked since. It sounds petty but I felt borderline betrayed and couldn’t believe a “friend” would try to make a buck on us knowing we were in a tough spot.

Hadn't seen them in a few years and you expected them to be familiar with your financial situation? I feel like you're leaving something out.

Regardless of your financial situation they shouldn’t be pushing that crap on you.

I don’t like any of it but we have a friend who is absolutely balling out on Rodan and Fields. She’s an RN who makes more from selling soap than her 70 grand in her profession. I don’t know what she makes but they have her a Lexus. And she went to Europe on their dime right before C19 happened. She’s beneath one person and above over 100. Every time they sell shite, she gets a cut.

Now a days any time someone contacts you that you haven't heard from in a long time you can assume it's a MLM pitch.

Unfortunately that appears to be true. I have a friend who is a great guy. He was a part of our circle of friends growing up really until the point everyone started getting married and having kids. His wife is a great girl and was somewhat friends with my wife early on in our respective marriages. But as we all got older and starting having kids everyone just kind of drifted apart.

Recently, for some reason my wife contacted my friend's wife. I think it was a deal where my wife and his wife were mutual connections of a third party. Anyway, my friend's wife messaged my wife and said we should all get together for dinner soon. Seeing as how we were all kind of close at one point and haven't seen each other in quite a while we thought it was a good idea...until a follow up message came which indicated the "secondary" purpose of the meeting was to give us some MLM pitch. At least if that is your plan just keep it hidden and bring it up casually in the conversation when we get together. But once I found out the REAL reason they were "excited" to meet up my wife and I said we needed to "reschedule".

Frankly, we were insulted. "Hey! We really miss yall and would love to get together to catch up! It's been far too long. Oh, by the way, I'd also like to try to uncomfortably corner you in to buying some MLM crap no one needs and try to convince you to be a member of my team selling this shite."

No thanks.

They are alive, well and thriving. They basically own all the politicians now and get to do whatever the frick they want. Pretty much the entire
"wellness" industry is an MLM.

Is Primerica still going hot and heavy? I was recruited several years by a former coworker. Her high end looking hooker/sponsor shows up for lunch with flashing huge diamonds and $200k Mercedes.

Wasn't Collis Temple, Sr and family big into this?
