What happened that he needed to step down?
Political disagreements with the faculty, and a fantasy story about a group of white people in a pickup truck that attacked the student body president (outed as a liar).

but he could have acted like a invested president should have and should have been swift and decisive, like a leader should be.
kind of hard to act so swiftly when all the shite IS MADE THE frick UP!!!!!!!!!!

They pay him to protect them
No, they pay him to be the president of the University. If you want hired security, pay for that shite
quote:
And he was indifferent to their fears
As he should have been. He's a university president, not their father.
quote:
And it cost him his job.
He's better off if this is the shite show he was going to be in charge of.

Many black students feel "uncomfortable" on the campuses of predominantly white institutions.
I feel uncomfortable when I am in certain areas of Memphis. I was called a soul stealing ginger in Arkansas, and I once saw a poop smeared on a bathroom stall just of Beale with a four leaf clover. I demand that the governor of Tennessee be fired, I demand that more people of Irish decent be living in TN, I demand that more Irish people be employed by the state of TN, and if a person of Irish decent cannot pay their bills I demand that the state step in and help them.
It sounds ridiculous, but this is exactly what is happening at Mizzou, except that my ancestors were two generations in as "indentured" servants before the first POC was brought over.

How the hell is it other students responsibility to make students 'comfortable'?
thats the presidents responsibility, by fostering an environment of inclusion. No one loses anything by being accepting and tolerant of others. unless you think this isnt a partnership but a power struggle.
he failed at that.
and to a smaller degree, its the responsibility of the students to leave behind a safe and inclusive environment that is conducive to the changing demographics of this country and to future prospective students.

I hope Mizzou's campus buildings aren't too flammable.

Yeah I bet they are slightly relieved they are leaving that mess.

YOu wouldn't say that if that was your daughter.
If it were you kid, you'd just lay down like a beta man and blame your daughter, right?

You're assuming that the protestors were negotiating in good faith. I think the lies demonstrate they were not.

There are certain people (of any race) who will never agree that an "environment of inclusion" has been reached.
You make reasonable accommodations, that's about all you can do.

Missouri campus police investigating threat calling for black students to 'stop protesting and start killing'
quote:
Yahoo Sports received a screenshot of the tweet, which is from a protected account, meaning only confirmed followers can access the person's complete profile. The person joined Twitter in 2009, indicating that it is not a new account.
A police officer on campus confirmed that the tweet will be reviewed, and another officer said the department is "looking into most of those." She did not say how many incendiary communications the police have seen.

And just how inclusive are the actions of the SGS president? He perpetuated a hoax that turned the whole campus into a hostile environment.

Pure propaganda based on faux hysteria.

No...you cannot command people to be inclusive of others.
quote:
No one loses anything by being accepting and tolerant of others.
Maybe not, but you also can't demand that people be accepting and tolerant. If people don't want to accept and tolerat you, then they aren't going to. By the time you're about 20 years old, that should have been made quite clear. If not, then their parents suck
quote:

No, it isn't. It's the students' responsibility to show up to class and get their education.

If they don't, then why do we still have disparities?
We have a black president, SCOTUS justice, numerous judges, politicians, etc. The disparities that exist aren't due to racism.

Mizzou Student Body President Issues Warning on ‘Confirmed’ KKK Presence on Campus — Amid Online Panic, the Truth Emerges
LINK
University of Missouri Student Body President Payton Head issued a chilling warning of a “confirmed” Ku Klux Klan presence on campus Tuesday — only to admit it was not true hours later.
He quickly sparked panic with a Facebook post claiming he was actively working with “the MUPD, the state trooper and the National Guard” on the so-called threat.

An official with the University of Missouri Police Department refuted the claim a short time later, telling TheBlaze there is “no Ku Klux Klan on campus.”

Head eventually deleted his post on the KKK scare. The scrubbing was followed by a full apology for spreading misinformation.

“I take completely blame and fault for my actions,” he later tweeted.
The online emergency information center for the University of Missouri urged students not to spread false rumors.
There is no immediate threat to campus. Please do not spread rumors and follow @MUAlert at LINK for updates.
