just looked up Tchula, main street is MLK, in a ton of 2,300. Median income of $11k a year. Hell I think if you don't work and get Welfare you make $12k, that's a really low median income.

when driving through there it looks like very few people there actually have jobs...there are almost no commercial businesses there and you will see just loads of folks hanging out in the streets and yards during the middle of work days...

not much opportunity there at all...

Yup. Driving through on a highway tells you the whole story. When it's how you want it to be.

I wouldn't be shocked if this PC gets busted running drugs or whores. Sounds like he posts on PT. Cops really are the worst. The marines part made me lol the most though.

Most places away from the coast in Mississippi are like that. Everybody just hangs out, shoots the shite, drinks, and watches cars go by

Baw could stand to add a few pounds of lean mass. I suggest he join the OT and subscribe to OT workout crew threads.

Holy crap. How do you survive on that??

If you're only pulling in 11 grand a year, that's like "no running water" poor. These people are shitting in outhouses and drinking rain water. No ac. They only put only the lights after 8 at night.

It looks like owns/operates a bar according to his Facebook page. So this could be a very good possibility.

I've seen some pretty saddening places in Mississippi. The type of homes that make you majorly pissed off when you hear inner city people complain about being poor while shopping at a nice grocery store, wearing brand new clothes, new TVs, luxury cars, etc.

I've seen and been in places with no power, no water, no sewer, missing walls, most didn't have floors or they were half rotten, roaches and rats everywhere, etc. I even walked up to talk to this one old black guy and a mangy dog (that wasn't his) ran into his house because he had a gaping hole in an exterior wall. The houses are usually put together with scrap wood and they live on the property as squatters. Usually only have one truck that works and a broken down car in the lot.

Once you see that a few times, it makes you want to cut up Jamal from the chocolate city's brand new Gucci jacket, piss in his Jordan's, and key his four year old Range Rover. I've said it in a few threads, but they don't know what hard living is. They don't know how and there isn't someone on every street corner coaching them on how to milk the system to the max. The conditions that some people live in would make a lot of people tear up.

Just think about driving by an old jobsite and sorting through the scraps to find a piece of plywood so you don't have to sleep in the dirt

I've been just about to every nook and cranny in the Delta and while you do see this kind of stuff every now and then, it's far from the norm. I mean, they are poor, but not Sau Paulo, Rio ghetto, grass hut poor. Yes, most of the non-public housing is old wood frame and some shotgun housing. But they get a LOT of govt assistance. When you take that, drug sales that some do, and general thuggery and\or hustlin they manage OK. The problem is that the schooling is lackluster to put it mildly, ambition is hard to find BC it is such a depressing place to grow up, work is seasonal BC it's farming, and there are very, very few jobs. I mean chicken and catfish processing plants are the biggest non farming jobs there. And catfish has gone down a ton BC the US started importing huge quantities of fish from overseas.

For the poorer people in the Delta it's a no-win situation. It is in general the most povertous place in America for a reason. Ms should be ashamed of itself for that, BC it doesn't have to be.

...oh, and as far as the roaches, rats, and critters infesting the houses.... oh my gosh!!!! I have seen literally writhing, pulsating balls of roaches in the corners of the ceilings and floors, and behind fridges where they are congregating to get water outta the drip pan!!! Crawling all over the kids as they sleep or watch TV on the furniture... It's like nobody sprays their houses!!!!
