Patrick Braxton-Andrew, 34, from Davidson, disappeared October 28 after leaving his hotel in Urique. Gov. Javier Corral Jurado, writing in Spanish, said that Braxton-Andrew crossed paths with a drug dealer from the Sinaloa cartel and was killed in a "cowardly and brutal murder.

It is not unheard of for those cartel folks to murder people not even remotely involved in the drug trade or as buyers. Some real twisted stuff if you Google around enough.
The bus story and the casino mass attack were both pretty messed up.

That's prime Sinaloa cartel turf. They have informants embedded in every aspect of life in those areas. They know when an outsider lands at the airport and can commit any crime they want, including murder, with absolutely no fear of repercussions. You dont have to be up to no good to get killed in that area.

One simply doesn't go for a stroll in Mexico, unless you're traveling through it with 40000 of your closest friends.
