He’s alive and well at the NAPA in Duvall, WA

Same for Home Depot. Used to have those knowledgeable older retired guys working part time. They could advise you on what you needed and how to fix stuff. The people they have now know less than i do.

Yes, and AI will not be able to turn wrenches and fix your car, plumbing and electrical problems.

We have one at the nearby O'Reilly's. He is also a biker which is all the better.
But they are pretty scarce.

I’d settle for the books in the stores that tell you which oil filter, air filter, wiper blades, etc are correct for your vehicle
You can look that stuff up on-line in advance and walk into the store knowing exactly what you need.

Definitely not wife material.

I have used eReplacementParts.com for all small parts, appliances and garden equipment and they always have come through for what I needed. Never had an issue.
I have an Echo tiller that I've been doing some maintenance on, and was surprised at how easily I could buy inexpensive parts off the internet.
I could probably rebuild the entire thing for less than I paid for it.

No one wants to deal with Jerome or Shamika ignorant arse trying to buy parts for their shite box.

Companies have bought into short term gains over everything. I consistently see dumbass questions on r/managers like "our 65 year old is slowing down, how do I PIP them". My brother or sister in management, of course they are slowing down they are 65. Put them in a mentor role, have them work less demanding times, and grab all their knowledge over the next couple of years before they retire.
I always get frustrated reading all of this shite. We as a country burn out our employees for corporations that don't care, everyone is burning out constantly, and then wonder why kids don't want to join the work force, and the elderly just want to relax for the 10 years they have left. It's not capitalism or free market, it's a government/corporate hybrid, and we get the short end of so many sticks due to things like EU regulations forcing items to be cheaper/better made.
