I’m assuming that your parents failed to teach you how to listen to people in positions of authority. Do you also not listen to your parents, teachers, bosses?
That’s the wrong type of mentality to have and if you’re a police officer who has this type of thought process, please resign and find a new line of work before you get yourself or someone else killed. There’s many ways to get compliance other than force. You’d be amazed at how many extremely uncomfortable, confrontational situations can be calmed by just being cool. Sure, there’s instances when you just can’t be the nice guy and you have to get physical sometimes; but every decent officer I’ve worked with always wanted that as a last resort. Dudes that go in and start putting people on sidewalks eventually will find themselves on the wrong end of a civil suit.
If you have enough confidence, the criminal knows who is in charge and will comply because your presence should establish who you are without needing to dick measure. If you’re an insecure piece of shite loser; he’s likely going to act out because an officer that’s so insecure that he or SHE has to over exert their authority is creating just as dangerous of a situation as the criminal.

Can you not separate defending these guys vs laying some blame on a guy that likely broke the law and then refused to comply with an arrest?
I don't break the law and if I did do something minor I would do as I'm asked to do by the police, and guess what, I'm not worried about ever getting killed by a shitty cop.

So he committed a crime and deserves to get killed? Makes sense

which one of those crimes is immediately punishable by death in our legal system?
or do you prefer the North Korea method?
laying blame on the guy that was still alive when he was face down, handcuffed, and outnumbered is pretty ridiculous.

I get not wanting to step in when cops are involved but shouldn’t the people videoing this guy getting killed intervene at some point? I’m sure that would be a hard move to make but I’d like to think if I’m watching someone being murdered I’d do something
A couple of the bystanders made a move at one point and the guy choking out the dude immediately pulled his mace. Fat Bruce Lee got amped up as well.

Need more cops like you.
Unfortunately, I can see why you chose to get out.

Gotcha, we'll agree to disagree.
Cause and effect. It wasn't a desired effect, but the guy is alive if he isn't breaking the law.

Yeah, that's verbatim what I said...

He’s also alive if meathead officers weren’t stupid

100% agree
Guess what, if he didn't likely break the law, he never has a confrontation with those meatheads
The cops were 100% wrong in the way they handled things, but the start of the chain of events was the dead fella breaking the law and then resisting.

The start of every roller coaster death is somebody going to a theme park, but I bet you feel differently about handing out the blame in those situations.
Posted on 5/26/20 at 9:58 pm to cubsfan5150
Yeah I get it. Still shouldn’t have been murdered
Posted on 5/26/20 at 10:00 pm to NawlinsTiger9
Because going to a theme park is illegal huh...
A better comparison would be someone dying due to an accident after sneaking into a closed theme park

I'm looking forward to Officer Tatum's inevitable video on this one. He can tell us all about how knee-to-neck contact is the most efficient way of gaining compliance from criminals.

Well no, but neither activity involves being murdered

But I hope people have paid attention during the COVID and woken up to the fact that you aren’t going to be able to rely on cops to do the right thing
Give me a break on that argument.

The only reason there’s a but in that sentence is to shift blame to the murdered person again. Once again, we will see the blue refusing to take full responsibility for one(s) of their own doing a terribly awful job of policing.
I cannot back the blue until the blue proves they will hold themselves accountable from within. But instead we will likely see meat heads all over saying back the blue. They’ve lost my support. Sure I’ll comply if I’m ever arrested. But I’ll do so out of respect only for the weapon on their side.
