Xennials (also known as the Oregon Trail Generation and Generation Catalano) are the micro-generation of people on the cusp of the Generation X and Millennial demographic cohorts, typically born in the late 1970s to early 1980s. Xennials are described as having had an analog childhood and a digital adulthood.

In 2017, Xennial was included in Merriam-Webster's "Words We're Watching" section, which discusses new words which are increasingly being used, but which do not yet meet criteria for a dictionary entry.

I’m sorry for not allowing terms for generational crossover occupy my thoughts. Better?

Doesn’t mean it’s a good thing.

If the wife or husband doesn’t work, they should handle the majority of the parenting related work because that is their de facto job.

If my wife is working the same hours I am I have to adjust my effort to reflect that.

Instead of the average number of worked for a nuclear family being 40/week its now 80 and the resulting increase in income is largely negated by the price of child care and inflation that has ensued in the housing and car markets as more money chases the same assets.

This is the logical outcome of feminism.

I read through the thread on Reddit about this article and it’s like that entire group is blinded to the fact that two working parents forces them to split childcare duties. They decried stories of fathers working 50+ hour weeks to support their family having a better life while the mother tended the house and kids. In fact, one of the highest upvoted conversations was focused on how one father who worked 80 hour weeks to keep his business afloat to sustain a better lifestyle for his kids should have downsized their living situation to avoid working like that.

I would like to see a study done on the quality of time spent between working fathers and mothers. I know in our house, the weeknights are pretty much limited to an hour of quality time and the rest is cleaning, cooking, doing bedtime, readying for the next day. Not like my involved fatherhood is super outstanding during the week.

But anyways, overall it’s better for fathers to be more involved with their kids, but using a statistic on diaper changes is a really weak method of assessing that involvement.

I don't care about the millennial argument, but that's a fact.

Broken homes and shitty parents are the main reason we have so many thugs and criminals in America.

I change at least 1/2 my sons diapers and he’s currently sleeping on me.

So your research checks out

I spend 1000% more time with my kids then my dad. He abandoned us when I was little so there was nowhere to go but up for me and my kids.

Younger parents love their children more, so naturally this news would make a boomer cranky.

That's strange yeah, but you're using a pretty extreme example.

As they should. Raising and parenting a child is not purely a woman's job. Both parents are supposed be fully involved.

Yea most fathers are not dressing their sons as girls. That's like 1% of the population who does that shite. They only like to make it seem like it's a bigger thing than what it is.

This is a good thing.

Could also mean that some stay at home women are starting to identify as men.
