Well then I guess it was a good decision for them to ride bikes through there.
In all fairness, it really probably is just as dangerous in any urban area of the US.

Tajikistan isn’t the issue.
It’s the fact that they were essentially riding on the border of Afghanistan, correct?
This is like those hikers who were detained in Iran back in 2009.

cool. but i'm still not going on a leisurely bike ride in that part of the world for #vaca. call me a bigot.
Cool.
I’m not either. I’m too risk adverse.
And no one called you a bigot. Don’t be so sensitive.

The Pamir HWY cuts through Tajikistan. It doesn’t run along the border.
I don’t know how close to Afghanistan they were.

On the macro level Progressivism is a national suicide movement. I'm somewhat impressed by these suiciders for getting straight to the point and skipping the part about electing Progressive Democrats who want to import these people here so we can all be culturally enriched.
I guarantee not a single Progressive one-worlder will learn the lesson of this. Progressive Orthodoxy is WAY stronger than these kinds of cautionary tale.RIP, moral relativists. You died for your fundamentalism.

Essentially, this comes down to one simple concept:
Whether or not you consider their decision poor.
Scruffy does.
Same with with those individuals arrested by Iran in 2009, the man killed by a bear while living with them, the Canadian couple kidnapped in Pakistan, the American arrested in North Korea for theft (although Scruffy does not believe NoKo’s account), the female who tried to hitchhike across Iraq in a wedding dress and was killed, etc.
Poor decisions with poor outcomes.
But they were just living their best life, correct?
You can live your “best life” without making poor decisions of that caliber.

One could argue simply choosing to bikepack is a poor decision with its inherent risks no matter the location.
Posted on 8/16/18 at 11:12 am to Salmon
True, and they compounded it by doing it in that region of the world.

I can’t believe my wife and I risked our lives hiking in Big Bend just half a year ago. Really makes you think.

Goddamn you sound like a cult leader when you get on your soapbox. And the rubes on here eat it up.
You and a bunch of other people seem happy they died, simply because they were more to the left than you.
That is extremism.

we are throwing our heads back and laughing at the wisdom of cycling backroads in the middle of taliban and isis land.

Well we try to warn you prog filth that we don’t need hordes of immigrants from this part of the world but you won’t listen.
