I would presume you didnt feel entitled to live in the "trendy" part of a city immediately and understood you may have to compromise, which most of your sub generation doest get. I say this as the elder but still millenial.

I’m single and prepare large meals for the week on Sundays. If you get tired of it, freeze it. My grocery bill is lower than some of my coworkers alcohol expenditures.

I have a close circle of friends, I don't ask. People get to drinking around a fire or something and they mention it, mostly in talking about investing elsewhere or retirement.
Some people don't mind discussing it, I'm one of those people. A couple Google searches and you could get pretty close to what someone makes anyway, not information I care to hide. It's not like they will find out what I make then ask for money

Control what you can control and try not to get caught up in the 'woe is me'. Vote and be vocal for change but don't let it consume you.
Its still a very tight labor market, if you are getting a shitty deal at your current employer, shop around, do trainings that set you up for in demand positions, leadership, etc. You'll have to work harder than a diversity hire but frick it, life has never been fair.
Aside from our parents generation and those fortunate enough to make it from the 80s-mid 2000s, you are still better off than any other American generation in history.

I saw a single wide trailer for rent in Cecilia of all places, out in the sticks for $1,200/month. FOR A SINGLE WIDE TRAILER! They called it "country living".

With the cost of daycare these days, I don't see how both parents could work with 3-4 kids.
Plus the wife will be much happier cooking and cleaning and taking care of kids than she will doing her soul sucking fb posting for a car dealership “marketing career”

A VHS consultant in the 90s could afford to take their family to 2 vacations, own a home, 2 cars, stay at home wife, etc. I don’t feel special

If someone tells me how much they make, and I don't care if it's a lot or a little.. I would walk away. I don't talk personal finance. My parents have no idea how much my wife and I make.
Two people in this world know my salary. My boss and my wife. I don't even know for sure. I make enough and that's all good with me. My wife is an accountant so she handles all that.
People have different perspectives, mindsets and taboos than internet user I am dan. News at 11

Bro have you even shopped groceries recently? For a family of 1, it’s almost cheaper to eat shitty fast food or large takeouts portioned out vs cooking at home.
This isn't true at all. In Dallas you can get a pound of chicken breasts from Tom Thumb for $2. Get some Broccoli for $2 a pound and buy a 20 lbs bag of rice for like $20. You can get 3 meals out of $4.50. I'm not saying to only eat chicken rice and broccoli, but to act like you can't make a meal at home for less than $10 is absurd. HEB this week had prime NY strip steaks for $10 a pound. Get that a potato and asparagus and can have 8 oz a day for less than $7 for the whole meal
