My wife and I just turned 30. Didn't have a kid till we were about 2 years into our marriage at 28. Plan to have a second this coming year. We both work and make above average salaries. Moved closer to family so parents can watch the kid while we work, save money. We both got degrees in lucrative fields and are smart with our money. Will have my truck paid off Sept next year, contribute to our investment accounts and track every dollar. Budget budget budget. It requires effort and practice but becomes second nature eventually.
Do we over spend some months and have room for improvement? Absolutely. I come from a family that had zero financial sense and I knew before I even graduated high school I needed to educate myself. That is where my motivation came from.
