Higher utilities?
Why would they be higher?

Again, why?

well of course, if you don't know how long you will be in a city for renting is the better option. Once you settle down somewhere buying becomes the better option.

So you think it's realistic to live in a house for 5 years and put zero money into it? Realtor fees? Higher utilities? More gas in your car?
Removing the ability to be agile in the job market as well.
Although I can say is not a big of a deal for more white collar jobs than blue collar. It would be dishonest of me to say that relocation is not offered to candidates.
Same city job relocation would suck though.

Why would they be higher?
I would say that is common. As a renter, I rented a 1 bedroom. When buying, I never thought of doing the same. I would say this is realistic for most weighing renting vs buying

At what point does this stop? Are you never supposed to own because you "might" move?

We're telling people to stop renting close to their work and move somewhere with a 1-2 hour daily commute instead ITT

Then it's not realty an apples to apples comparison, now is it?

Just seems kinda pointless to make that argument, even though I agree that renting absolutely serves a purpose and is a great option for most people just starting out.

For young people, we move quite a bit.
Now I don't expect someone in their late 30's and up to be moving every 2-3 years.

Probably when one settles down with a family and school aged kids. Not when they're 22-27

I don't disagree with that

Why would they be higher?
Because apartments are generally smaller and more efficient. Don't have to water the lawn or cut grass, etc.

Again, why?
Because starter homes are usually far away from offices

You're paying the realtor when you sell in 5 years. Try to keep up.

Well, no but living in the middle of the city vs the burbs is very different too
