Totally. I'd love to invite him out for beers and hear all about his combat experience...

Pretty much. The guy has something wrong with him. Military folk who throw a hissy fit over this stuff often times end up looking just as bad as the impersonator. It just shows their insecurity.

Being passionate about the uniform, what it stands for, and not wanting to see it disrespected is not insecurity.

Yeah. Military folk should be tolerant about frauds who impersonate wounded vets and go to schools in uniforms they never earned. It's just because their daddy didn't love them, it's not their fault. I don't know why we even have standards to get into the military, or Special Forces, everyone should just be an honorary member.

Trying to publicly call someone out and make a scene about something because you feel like they are stealing some attention that in your mind properly belongs to you is insecurity. I could understand taking the time to report the guy to whoever deals with these things.

A while back there was a retired man who played the trumpet at military funerals as a volunteer. He also wore his uniform to some event on memorial day. He was viciously called out about his stolen valor... that wasn't stolen. He had been in the marines for 50 years. This sort of thing is what these public displays lead to, and it is unacceptable.

The reason it pisses me off so much is that even though I'm a combat vet I don't go around taking advantage of free shite like this guy is probably doing. There are veterans that actually need these free services that this guy is probably using.

[img]MARYSVILLE, Pa. -- Memorial Day for Robert Ford started normally, just like it has in recent years. The 75-year-old Marine Corps veteran dressed head-to-toe in military garb, grabbed his bugle, and took part in Harrisburg's Memorial Day wreath-laying ceremony in the Susquehanna River. He played "Taps."

In 51 years being a veteran of the United States military, he never experienced what occurred next.[/img]

You do realize that these are two separate things? That they are not the same at all?

The guy in Lafayette deserves to be called out and receive as much public shaming as possible. Maybe it will encourage him to get some help for his mental problems.

It's not a dick measuring contest, Darf.

FYI, I hate that people like you who are dicks about their service make other's who serve/have served look bad.

Not long ago I saw a picture of a guy who looked about 19 or so in an Army class A uniform. On his sleeve was Specialist E4 rank while on his shoulders he had like 2 or 3 General's stars. I wish I could find it now it was hilarious.

You're laughing now, wait until he sues and becomes your boss. He's just rank curious, he was born as a private, but all his life he's felt like a general inside.
