He has his signature head bob and throwing punches at angles that he learned from Cus down pat again.

Credit where credit is due. That was Jack Dempsey that came up with all of that. You look at old footage of Dempsey and there's a LOT of that in Tyson's game. The ferocity, the head bob and weave, the devastating punches coming from odd angles, the footwork and the way they stepped/lunged into their punches to close. A lot of what made Tyson successful was his ability to execute the way Dempsey did. The power, agility, ferocity of attack, and relentless pursuit made them both formidable boxers.

There's a reason Iron Mike says Dempsey is one of his heroes.

ETA: Great Youtube video showing how similar Tyson's style is to Dempsey's.

I dunno, dude has been hit in the head so many times and he’s so cocky, I can see him thinking this.

Tyson also benefitted in coming along in between 2 eras of great heavyweights. He fought mainly a bunch of tomato cans. If he comes along in the 70s with prime Ali, Frazier, Foreman, Shavers, etc; or the 90s with Lewis and Holyfield and he might be looked at differently.

You're out of your mind. About three connects from Tyson would destroy him.

Man he looks pretty incredible. I remember when Tito and Chuck had their last fight I think in 2018, at 43 and 48 years old. They looked like two old drunk uncles at a barbecue.

I remember the James Tony and Randy couture fight. Randy did a low ankle pick take down and it was all over after that, but they were in the same weight class.

Anyone remember his comeback when he fought Clifford Etienne?

i won $2400 on that fight (technically $2200)
had 12 of us each throw $200 in a pool and drew a round and a boxer out of a hat.

I got Tyson round 1.

Generally speaking, the first thing to go with age is your chin. If, and that is a big if, he could still take a punch, he could still be competitive at a high level.
I would have to see him get hit to know how serious of a contender he could be.
That said, natural power like his doesn't just go away. Offensively, I have little doubt he could hurt some people.

All depends on his conditioning. If he trains hard cardio wise he could do some damage.

I'm not old enough to remember Ali in his prime but I grew up in the prime Tyson fighting era. His fights were events. We'd pay $60 for pay per view and half of the neighborhood would be huddled around the living room. I miss big time boxing. It was so much fun.

That and his ability to tap into that Tyson rage (not bite someone's ear off). Lot of pent up anger in him and I wouldn't want to be the guy on the other side of the ring.

a' la Debo in Friday...just completely angry at the world.

I hated paying for those only to see a fight for 90 seconds.

Tyson fought both Holyfield and Lewis, though many people forget about the Lewis fight. They are also both older than Tyson.

Holyfield's first professional bout was before Tyson's, so he was fighting the same tomato cans Tyson was. Tyson rose up the ranks quicker than Holyfield did. In Lewis' case, though he was older than Mike, he started boxing professionally four years after Tyson and by then Tyson was already the undisputed champion. Make no mistake, though, those three are all from the same era of boxing and Tyson would have inevitably had to defend his title against one or both of them had his crimes not derailed his career. Unfortunately for Tyson (and us), those bouts didn't happen until after Tyson had lost four years of boxing and training and his prime was in the rearview mirror. Had he not raped that woman, I think we'd talk of the Tyson/Holyfield/Lewis era the same way we talk about the Ali/Frazier/Foreman era.

Also, Lennox Lewis is the most recent undisputed heavyweight champion. It's been a LONG time.

Mike is so much smarter than people think. His one man show on Broadway was amazing. I hope he doesn’t do it. He is a hero of mine, when you know about his childhood.

Holyfield's first 19 fights were in either light heavyweight or cruiserweight.
