He absolutely destroyed McGregor

You can get mad about it all you want, but that’s a fact.

I watched that fight and I'm not arguing with you that he didn't easily win it. But what we have is a few guys that are slightly larger than the average woman throwing cotton balls at each other and hugging. It was a fricking snooze fest.

His fights are like watching a 6-3 football game.

No, he outscored him in a boxing contest. Blow a whistle and turn it into a full MMA match, and Floyd is sniffing McGregor's arse.

At least McGregor agreed to fight in a discipline he hasn't been developing his whole life, like Floyd. I noticed that no boxer volunteered to reciprocate, and jump into an MMA ring with him.

For good reason. Boxers are professional dancers with gloves.

It would be like when Ray Mercer(Champion Boxer) fought Tim Silvia(Giant MMA Champion).

Ray Mercer KO's Tim Silva

In an MMA fight? You're fricking high. McGregor would dominate Tyson.

An MMA fight Connor could certainly beat him. Dominate? I don't think so. The size difference is just too much. He's like 160. Tyson has nearly 90 lbs on him. He would have to take it to the ground to negate Tyson's punches, but it would take a ton of energy to wrestle that mule down.

Guarantee Connor has never been hit as hard as Tyson could hit him. Ever. That's all it would take too. He goes in to try and take Mike down and catches that left hook and that's it.

While he is Mike Tyson and he may look great, blah blah blah
He is also 55 years old.
I am sure there are plenty fighters he could still punish, and it sounds "cool" predicting his come back on a discussion board, but he wouldn't stand a chance against another world class fighter.

Nothing against Mike Tyson, but age can't be overcome.
His quickness, coordination, and stamina are not what they once were.

McGregor walks around at 175-180. He's mostly known for his hands, but he can kick and has some ground game. Tyson could absolutely KO him easily, but Mike has never had someone throw kicks at him or try to take him down.

I think Mike has a much tougher time in MMA than anyone thinks. Over a 10 fight series, I think McGregor wins but Mike gets a few KO's in

No doubt MMA is a different beast requiring different skills and conditioning and Connor could absolutely win. I was just responding to the guy saying he would "dominate" Tyson. I just have a very hard time seeing him dominate.

yeah I agree with that. I do think some of the 205'ers and above would dominate tyson though. Such a different sport. Anyone with the size to withstand some of his punches and take him down has a huge advantage

We had this same discussion a few years back on here about Tyson versus Bruce Lee. One punch from Tyson and Connor would have trouble forming complete sentences for the rest of his life but Connor has his entire MMA game and Tyson has his boxing and that is it. Somewhat similar to Royce Gracie and some of those monsters he ended up submitting in the first UFC events where size does not equate to dominance.

Fine. Cormier, then, and he's black, so it's politically okay for him to beat Tyson's arse.

Happy?

Well, yeah they're closer to the same weight and Cornier is about 15 years younger.

Of course a boxer is gonna have trouble with an MMA fighter. I wasn't arguing that. Just like an MMA fighter is gonna have trouble in a straight boxing match (see McGregor v Mayweather).

All I was saying is I don't think McGregor would "dominate" Tyson. I even said he could beat him. The size is the factor in that matchup.

And IDGAF what color a fighter is, so not sure what you're getting at there...

Why A Mike Tyson Comback is a Horrible Idea

quote:

Tyson was 2-3 in his last five fights and retired after a loss in 2005 to slow journeyman Kevin McBride.

quote:

The result of all of it is predictable. A lot of people would pay a lot of money to watch. Then, the fight would unfold and it would look like it’s in slow motion. It would be horrible, one or both of them could get hurt and fans would be outraged that they were taken yet again.

What? That boxing match didn’t go to the cards. Mayweather TKO’d him the 10th.
