If you take too much sumatriptan you’ll have to go to the ER and get the cocktail to “reset” your brain.
I don’t know why it works but it does
Really? Damn. This is why I hate taking prescriptions. Never know what it’s going to do to you

Do you have any triggers you know of? Like, red wine or some such. An old coworker used to get migraines and had no clue the sulfites were kicking her arse. No expert here but the topic intrigues me.
I don’t know of any. I’ve not changed anything. Most of my life I’ve never had migraines

Ted, have you tried marijuana? I’ve heard several success stories about instant relief.

I put most of my patients with presumed migraines on Magnesium oxide (400mg) daily. You can get it over the counter. Side effect is that it can make you too regular if you know what I mean. I've had good success with that alone and for a lot of people that's all they need. Otherwise I go down the road of adding riboflavin and considering prophylactics: nortriptyline, verapamil, etc.
I’ll definitely look into this. I’d rather have the craps than pain

You do have to be careful with fiorcet. It's a nice drug for some headaches, but it can also actually cause headache with prolonged continuous use.
Thank you for letting me know. I’ve only had that for a week. I’ll ask my doctor about this

Zomig does work for me if it is a true migraine. Most people have no idea what a migraine actually is. This medicine is not for those people and it’s best to only take when you can lie down. I have a TBI from multiple IED explosions and taking shrapnel to the head from an RPG. This medicine works for me. Side effects do suck but screw a migraine.
I hate to hear that you have gone through all of this

It’s been a thankful minute since I’ve experienced a migraine.
What worked for me was 800 mg ibuprofen, 10 mg melatonin, 24 oz coconut water, a prayer to the Lord and 8-10 hours of sleep.

Thank you all of the advice. To those that have struggled with this stuff for years I have a new found respect for you.

Excedrin Migraine Strength - don't be afraid to pop as many as it takes, this has been the only thing that helps me and I've taken prescribed meds like Tramadol, etc and this works best.
Drink lots of water. Get Zofran for the nausea.

All good buddy I got a free license plate out of the deal. Haven’t gotten a ticket since either. We do a lot of good with the Purple Heart foundation and my kids college will be paid for so I’m blessed.

No experience, just trying to think of something easy that might stick - drink a shite ton of water. I know headaches are not migraines, but I only get them when I'm dehydrated. Also might help flush some crap out.

but the one that works for me is Fioricet - it’s a combo of Tylenol, caffeine, and a barbiturate.
Fioricet does wonders for me but can cause rebound headaches. I still take it when needed. I am also on daily Ellavil for a preventative migraine medicine. I found that some of my migraines and headaches were caused by grinding my teeth so a night guard helped reduce the frequency I get them.
Good luck!

Toradol worked on me. Most painful injection I’ve ever got. That sucker burns like no other.

I suffered for years from migraines. Had sinus surgery & never get them now. If it’s a regular thing you may want to have an ENT check you out.

Lots and lots of water even if it makes you gag or puke, 4 Advil, take a dump—even if you have to take a laxative, ice on head, sleep.

Sumatriptan and a glass of water. 45 minutes later, I can function. Had to go to a neurologist. I was having “shocks“ on the left side of my head and was prescribed cymbalta as a preventative as well. I fought migraines for 30 years (!). Go see a professional. There are options.
This. Nothing else.

I’m not running to the ER for drugs
It's basically heroin, you could just run to the corner store...
