I usually drive about 5 mph over the limit on long interstate drives. Sometimes, I'll see a line of cars/big rigs in the right lane going the speed limit so I'll move to the left lane to pass.
While I'm passing the line of cars, it may take a full minute or two to get to the front. Usually during that time, someone going 10-15 mph faster than me comes out of nowhere and starts tailgating.
I usually just go the same speed until I reach the front and then immediately move over. I don't really know what else to do but thinking many drivers would have a problem with my approach (i.e. expecting me to either speed up more or try to jam my car into the line in the right lane).
The tailgater wants you to tailgate the person in front of you in the hope that they'll do the same until the slow person at the head of the line pulls into the right lane.
Which is dangerous, stupid, and how the world works.

I get out of their way. None of it is worth it.
I agree. I'm not a stubborn driver.
But usually in that situation there is some cluster going on, such that moving to the right doesn't really accomplish anything or get me away from the tailgaters.

Nope, you're doing exactly what u should

What a POS
I agree. That dickhead driving 10 mph under the speed limit in the left-hand lane had it coming.

Could have been avoided. Just move over if someone has a need to pass. It's just that simple. Now the truck driver acted horribly I must say. I would like to have heard what the car driver had to,say as the reasons to sit in the left lane though!

I hope that guy does time.

Never fails on my trip south to gulf shores. I deal with this shite all the time on those 2 lane highways. I wanna go faster too man, get off my arse!
On a 2 lane highway you should leave a gap large enough in front of you that a faster driver behind you doesn't have to pass 2 people to pass you.
If you aren't ready to pass, back off.
When I pass on a 2 lane highway, I'm like an eagle lazily following its ground prey from the air until it's time to pass, when I swoop in and out with blazing speed. No one will have any doubt as to what's happening when it's time for it to happen.

why not speed up a little to pass quicker? I don't mean go 90, but if you can safely travel a little faster to get around the line of vehicles in the right lane, why not? It's only going to help the overall flow of traffic
just leave earlier and you won't need to go that fast

The best is when you're following someone that's going a decent speed but slower than you'd like in the left lane & you stay a safe distance back. But the uber douche behind u thinks that you're just going slow & that's his opportunity to swing around & wedge himself in between u. That's the only time I "play the game". I'm gonna close that gap, & your arse can fall back in line and wait your turn

Lol, it really is. Especially the ones that try it 3-4 times.

I fricking despise idiot drivers. Truck driver obviously road raged, but why the frick didn't the idiot driving the car get in the right lane? I guess cuz he/she is a fricking idiot.

I can't believe people are upvoting this.
I'm a grandpa of a driver, but it still drives me nuts when someone barely going faster than the right lane speed stays in the left lane for an extended passing session. Speed up and get out of the way.
You said "someone comes out of nowhere" to make your point, but that's not right. They'd have to be going 100 mph for you not to have been able to predict that your extended passing session would cause them to slow down.

I'll agree with u there. If the right lane is doing 65 & you're passing a huge line of cars @ 70, you prolly need to speed up a lil bit. Especially once you start making your own line behind u

I hate when I'm trying to pass someone and they speed up to match my speed. At the same time someone comes running up behind me going 90 and gets right on my arse. This problem would be eliminated if everyone used cruise control on the interstate.
