. I feel for the spot he was in, but I just don't think that's JUST a horrible accident that we can all just gloss over and move on from.
there's a Dallas cop that entered the wrong apartment after getting off work and killing the occupant, haven't heard a lot about that since it happened

That's not a get out of jail free card IMO.
like I said, I'll side with the property owner in these situations
unless you can prove malicious intent, I don't see a reason to charge

Even if nothing else came form that case, does that makes this case justified?
Fun fact, she was indicted for murder.

There was also a couple who were shot after cops served a warrant on the wrong house recently.
Scruffy thinks it was in Houston.

Well we're just going to disagree there. I don't think you should be able to shoot the very people you paid to have sent out to your house.

When the officers arrived, they walked around the home and reportedly found nothing out of the ordinary until they noticed that the front door was open. Heidelberg notified dispatch about the door.
I wonder if unknownknight and the other morons in this thread will be back here to backtrack? Or will the maintain their "frick the cops" attitude to try to gain e-cred cool points?

If you can prove he knew it was the cops, I agree

If they identified themselves as the story claims, and he shot anyway, I'm sorry I just don't think he should get away with that.

depending on the size of the house and where he was, he might have just heard yelling/talking

I get the panic, I get all of that. It just does not seem responsible to shoot without identifying when you know cops are responding to the alarm that you signed up for to have them come to your house in that very scenario.

Then don't shoot if you're not certain what you're shooting at. Gun ownership 101.

in no way is it responsible
never argued otherwise

So you admit it's irresponsible, but don't think killing someone in that fashion is a crime? That's pretty contradictory.

most accidents are caused by someone being irresponsible
not all accidents are crimes

This wasn't an accident. The guy decided to shoot a gun at someone.

I get the tough spot he's in, but if you concede he's shooting a gun in an irresponsible manner, and that results in an innocent person's death, it's hard to understand how you don't think a charge should be filed there.

Cop or not, you realize you can’t just shoot someone in your home right?
