Midland, TX has the worst inflation in America

Inflation in Midland has hovered near 10% for the past six months, more than any of the about 400 metropolitan areas tracked by Moody's Analytics — and well above the national average. Over the period, the West Texas oil-industry hub has had it even worse than big-city hotspots such as Atlanta and Phoenix.
As the Fed embarks on an interest-rate hiking cycle to tamp down on decades-high inflation, Midland's struggles show how difficult it’ll be to douse prices with the blunt tool of monetary policy. The central bank raised interest rates by half a percentage point last week, the most since 2000, and signaled it would keep that pace in the next couple of months.
“The only food I can buy at the grocery store anymore is eggs and beans,” said Jesus, 74, who retired five years ago. The couple receives about $2,000 a month in pension and benefits, but only in the past few months have costs driven them to the food bank.
Behind them in line was Eduardo Gama, 47, his sedan windows rolled down for his three big dogs. Rent and electricity prices shot up so much in Midland that a few months ago he moved to an RV park in Odessa. His monthly bills are down $200, but wages from his job at a storage facility haven’t kept pace with inflation.

When your world comes crashing down
I want to be there
If God is looking down on me
I'm not Jesus
Jesus wasn't there
I want to be there
If God is looking down on me
I'm not Jesus
Jesus wasn't there

The stories around the boom and hotel costs and inability to keep stores with staff were pretty insane.
My dad is from there and his family was wealthy white oil trash. He has 8 brothers and after skipping a few of their funerals I finally got pressured into making one. It was fairly last minute but the cheapest round ticket from Austin to Midland was $1600 and the cheapest hotel was $400. And I don’t even mean a Hampton inn or Holiday Inn Express. I mean like a Motel 6.

Rice is still cheap. Rice, beans and eggs actually ain’t that bad nutritionally, but this is what happens when feelings give way to facts. You get what you vote far.

When I left active duty, I had to drive my car from El Paso to South Carolina since the Army would ship my household goods but not my car. I had originally planned to stop in either Odessa or Midlands. I saw the hotel prices and changed my plans reaaaaaal fricking quick.

If u ain't hauling your house behind your truck, u ain't got no business in Midland.

I worked in Midland for several years and often would book a room through my company if the rig was having issues.
My favorite was a room at some dump off 249 where the bathroom, including a jacuzzi, was in the bedroom. No separation at all

I lived there for a year all of 2018. It's the most miserable place on Earth. Fat Mexican lesbians galore
