There isn't a thread on every single crime that happens in the GNO area. I don' think there is some conspiracy to under report crime committed by white people in the area.

then why is there a thread on this one? i don't think OP intended it as a PSA for his TD brethren in the GNO metroplex. regardless, i think we're on the same general page, just arguing about minutiae.

There wasn't a thread on the JP officers killing two perps in a drug sting and shooting one of their own either. At least not that I could find.

Obviously racism

So the obvious conclusion to jump to is racism.

I was coming to make a similar joke. He’ll be keeping dicks warm in prison no doubt.

for those that say we have too many incarcerated, I say.. BOLLOCKS...... we need more jails... I bet his juvenile record is looong.

We have too many non-violents incarcerated which take up the room for people like this that were arrested for aggravated assault.

ETA:

And people who are just waiting trial for shite that can't make bail and our system is so backed up it takes months and months, even for petty shite.

Probably because relationship-based violence impacts the public differently.

Look, I think it's a fair question to pose whether random black on white violence is actually a big deal, or whether it's exceedingly rare and people too often get worked up about very isolated incidents.

But the central theme to almost all public response to crime is "what are the chances it impacts me/my family." So with some kid shotgunning his mom, 0%. Guy murder-suiciding his wife? 0%. With drug related violence, for people not in the drug game, close to 0%.

For random guy busting into random car on random street and killing random woman? Obviously people are going to have a different reaction to that. And the question that arises is "who commits crime like that?" And at least in our region, the answer is often predictable.

A lot of dumbasses on this board and poli board think the jails are filled with people in there just because they got caught with an ounce of weed.

I did some jail work in residency and med school. I can guarantee you the vast majority of prisoners are pieces of shite that will never contribute to society

I'm glad your anecdotal jail work proves statistics wrong.

Of the 2.3 million incarcerated people in the US, 450,000 are in there for non-violent drug offenses.

I’m sure that a-hole who was talking up the Angola rodeo can’t wait to see what kind of fricking wooden bowls this piece of shite makes.

the murder rate is lower than it's been in 50+ years but let's work ourselves into a furor every time something bad happens in the city.

And it’s still what? 4th in the country? Behind only St Louis and Memphis? With much larger cities ranking lower.

Just because NOLA went from a horrible murder rate to a less horrible one doesn’t mean it’s some utopia now that we should celebrate and treat as some huge victory.

While I’ll concede that it’s doing better the biggest problem this city has is the fact that juveniles are committing most of the crime and there’s nothing anyone can do about it.
The juvenile system in the city is an absolute joke and it’s proven in the numbers.

It's all about the rankings now that the rate is falling.

Cut the murder rate in half and people will bitch that it is still Top 10.
