Love them. I studied Franklin Lloyd Wright's work in College, and really enjoy the style.

100%. If I see brick, concrete, and cast iron in an interior I'm loving it!

. True. Only reason I said Nanny Mcphee is b/c my girls were watching it yesterday. One thing that has always stood out about that movie is the absurdness of the colors.

He was very modern in his designs. His thing was intergrating nature with his work. But the Solomon R. Guggenheim Mueseum is a great example of his funkiness.

his temporary camp during his phoenix phase was a thing of beauty. one of the most amazing 'temporary cities' ever.

quote:

This image depicts Frank Lloyd Wright in the living room of the Wright cabin at the Ocatilla Desert Camp in 1929. The Ocatilla Desert Camp was constructed in the Arizona desert by Wright and his apprentices in 1927. It was intended to serve as base camp where Wright could observe the progress of the unrealized San Marcos Hotel. In Wright's autobiography he discusses the camp's placement within the desert landscape: "And you will soon see them like a group of giant butterflies with scarlet wing spots, conforming gracefully to the crown of outcropping of black splintered rock gently uprising from the desert floor."

I'm slowly trying to build a Danish furniture collection.

Make sure you get some authentic Alvar Aalto pieces. Well he's Finnish but close enough.

I can appreciate them, but I don't want one. Interesting one for sale in Lafayette right now.

Not sure how to link the pics from a realtor.com site.

Houston has a pretty good collection of MCM homes.

Yeah, and I like some of the newer modern with Texas vernacular but the NW US like washington and oregon have some great stuff blending into the forest or out on sounds.

Checking in. Big fan myself. Most of my furnishings have been updated to MCM pieces over the past 10 years. I have a set of teak Moller dining chairs that I can't keep, even though I love them because my boys will destroy. I've floated the idea of selling the boys instead of the chairs. My wife is currently considering it.

its not that easy to do. big box stores dont carry MCM fixtures and given the popularity of this style is hard to find a steal on old school stuff..which may or may not even hold up when you do find it.

slow & steady is the way to go with this.
