Not arguing. I just find the outrage over the dispatcher misplaced.

I need to hear the call for me to really know that the mother said

" my child is locked in a hot car and I can't get her out" just doesn't seem to lead to " we don't unlock cars ma'am "

this mother is living the American dream.

the American dream is to become a victim, but not too much of a victim.

I can guarantee you that if this story was slightly changed and it was some random Joe blow calling this in on someone else who wasn't around, they would have sent help. I mean shite, they send cops out for animals locked up in a car!

You think the dispatcher was justified when the response from management was the following:
quote:

According to Waterford police, the dispatcher involved has not been back to work since the incident and will face disciplinary action. The chief said there will be additional training so dispatchers know how to handle these calls in the future.

the first question a dispatcher should ask in an locked vehicle call is if their are kids inside the vehicle. if kids are locked inside an officer should've been dispatched. The dispatcher is in the wrong and should be fired.

What if you were physically unable to as this mother seems to have been?

then she does what she did, which is keep trying different things until she gets the child out

do you think they wouldn't have got the child out without the window breaker? because I believe they would have still got the child out

We will never know. What we do know is that emergency services fricked up in their response.

If it's so powerful, why did she even need the window breaker? Why are you even arguing this?

Is that what I said? Nope

Did the dispatcher frick up? Yep. Should she have asked more questions? Yep.

But I offer you this. If paw paw was around for 10 minutes...why were they not getting his old arse out there to bust the window?

10 minutes? Really? You couldn't bust the window for 10 minutes?

bitch couldn't unlock her lock from a cell phone app?

Not everyone has a cell phone app to unlock their car. It’s available on mine but I choose not to pay $150/year for the service. I have better things to spend that money on.

And more importantly, how do you "accidentally" lock your child in the car? For real.

You must not have ever locked your keys in your vehicle. I haven’t since I got in the habit of using the key fob to lock it but it’s easy to do. Like others said, she didn’t leave the kid to go shopping or anything. She simply locked her keys in. My wife did this at home one time when ours was about a year old. Good thing is we keep a spare key for both vehicles with each other so I was able to unlock it for her. Glad my kids are old enough now to be able to unlock the door themselves if this happens again.

Once you get older you'll have one. Old guys have a storage of things they can rummage through.

Read the story. The mom used the grandpa's window breaker. That doesn't mean he was around, more than likely the mom found it and used it.

Right. And any motivated parent is a trained medical professional who could administer aid for the effects of heat stroke that might be setting in by the time they maybe, but maybe not, found a tool to use to break the window.

I will say that it's frustrating how callous and jaded many of these dispatchers are. I called about some shady shite going on about a month ago at a job site and they basically acted like I was wasting their time.

However, I think people are way too quick to call 911 rather than handle things themselves. This is a prime example.

Why though? The mom was not having success breaking the window. Just how much longer should she have waited to try to get someone that was capable to handle it?

I've read it.

The questions I've asked all were not addressed. That's my point.

You need to stop, you are just digging deeper.

The woman was PANICKING -- period. Everything else is IRRELEVANT. Her INFANT child was in danger.

Do you have children? Infants? So easy to say what you would do, when you are not put to task.

I'm sure you feel like you would dive in after an alligator got your infant, but would you??? I feel like I would, I know in my heart that I would, but...... hopefully I will never find out.

We all think a big game, we all believe what we would do - but panic is real. Emotions are real.

And as we know from young liberals -- Emotions make you completely ignorant and incompetent....

The woman called for help, this was what she did. This was one of the ways she tried to save her child.

The 911 dispatcher is at fault. This is not up for discussion.

You should stop.
