MGTOW and The Red Pill - Is this is a common thing?

I'm too old to be a millennial but the falling rate of marriage is clear and the decreased interest of American men in being married seems to be a real social phenomenon.
So... my question to the men on this board (esp those who often speak poorly of marriage) is if this is a real thing? If you have opted out of marriage and legal relationships with women then do you consider yourself part of the MGTOW movement? Did you have the Red Pill moment that the MGTOW men seem to speak of most commonly?

I didn't know about it either until I stumbled across it - the acronym stands for Men Going Their Own Way. As best I understand it they are men who refuse to marry or become legally obligated to women. Most of their complaints seem to center of the lack of reproductive and financial equity that results if they enter into a relationship that results in marriage or children.
Because I see so many men around here speak so negatively about marriage I thought this would be a good place to ask if this was something they considered themselves to be a part of?

the MGTOW guys are essentially arguing you are a beta to women (all of whom are made alphas by the legal system unless you are already destitute).
Some of them seem quite willing to enter into physical relationships with women - but those who do seem hell bent on avoiding being trapped.
Carried to their extreme the MGTOWs will get vasectomies to avoid the chance of pregnancy with their flings and use a surrogate if they want to have a child that can not be taken away by the biological mother.

As introverted and quirky as I am (I'm not unlike Rain Man in some ways) I was able to find someone, mostly in spite of myself. Women are out there. If you can't find at least one, it's on you.

MGTOW is a small subset of the RP nothing more. Most of society is programmed to beta worker drones so the RP will never be huge. The only downside for the modern man is kids and that will be fixed with the male birth control in 2017. MGTOW is smart as we dont have the beta government system to fix our mistakes like women do. The only way to win a game is to not play.

MGTOWs are whiny grown men who have decided to give up on women(going their own way) instead of improving themselves to be more attractive to women and lead a better lifestyle.
