The non-official United Nations geoscheme for the Americas defines Central America as all states of mainland North America south of the United States, hence grouping Mexico as part of Central America for statistics purposes, but historically Mexico is considered North America.
Why would anyone care abt this definition?

Central America is a region, not a continent, in North America.
Some people include Mexico in the CA region, some don't. Ethnically and culturally, they have more in common with CA than US or Canada.

To be fair, what other term would they use?

That's what us boomers were taught.
But when I was a yute listening to the hip hop, there wasn't a Southern Ocean, either.
It's like, these concepts are made up and change over time

They are the Estados Unidos de Mexico so no they would never do that

I consider Mexico Central American, only because language, culture, and ethnicity.
If somebody says otherwise. . .I mean whatever, it is arbitrary.

Hmmm.

The 7 Countries Of Central America
The seven countries, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, and Belize, of Central America make up a diverse region of modern cities, ancient cultural sites, and pristine wilderness areas. Central America is North America's southernmost region. It is an isthmus that connects Mexico in North America to Colombia in South America, separating the Pacific Ocean to the west from the Caribbean Sea to the east. It encompasses an area of 202,230 sq mi with a population estimated at 42,386,500 million inhabitants. Central America is only about 30 miles wide at its narrowest point, and no location on the isthmus is more than 125 miles away from the sea.

quote:
Central America comprises the seven nations of Belize, Costa Rica,
El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama - excluding Mexico.
Also, Central America is simply a region while North America is a clearly defined continent that includes all the Central American countries.

Yea I realize part of this discussion may be the fact we were taught differing things depending on what our history teachers/professors believed.
But as far as I can tell Mexico has never been considered part of Central America.

Dude is melting because someone in this thread about world’s most dangerous cities referred to cities close to Mexico as Central America.

Clearly you miss the point of dry humor?

In Latin America the term “America” means the entire continent, from Argentina and Chile up to Canada. They actually consider it all to be one continent.
maybe you need to go to the latin american tiger droppings and educate them

The people in Central America are basically fully indegenous. Mexicans are half white, especially northern Mexicans, which are the ones that populate south texas. They are usually 60-80% white.
You are just racist. It’s ok

By your logic, Deep South TX should be considered Central America.
