Gary going all in again. I hate this shite. All this attention will do is give him more reason to write race-baiting articles, attack blacks who don't get in line, and go scream at council meetings. He purposefully hurts BR for his own gain. It's pathetic.

Our company has. Texas is welcoming the billions of dollars in investments that Governor Honor Code isn’t interested in.

Don’t get me started on that deal...

Yep, I love reading his posts in these threads because they are rational and do generally make me feel hopeful.

“People are still dying in our streets from the lack of opportunities.”
Damn. Dodged bullets from tax cuts, net neutrality, Gorsuch, and die because of lack of opportunity. Tough break.

What we saw last night should embarrass everyone, but a lot of people north of Florida woke up this morning pissed off at the racist white republicans. NBR is done. There is no saving it.
I appreciate the positive attitude a few of you still have towards BR, but you can’t look at last night knowing which way the demographics are rapidly shifting and make a legitimate case as to how this city has any shot at surviving.
As I said last night, the sliver of a chance BR has will come from getting Tara Wicker or a Republican in office next election, getting rid of Murphy Paul, telling BRPD to go tear up the streets and frick shite up, and finding gays or immigrants who want to take the first steps in gentrifying NBR.
It’ll be much easier to get rid of Broome and Paul than it will be to gentrify NBR.

Would be the end.

Wouldn’t he be running to fill a spot currently
Occupied by one of his democrat buddies? Doesn’t he live in one of their districts?

If history has anything to say about this, Chambers definitely won't be running anywhere.

The real question is, can you represent the district that your mother lives in if you reside with her?

Gary's excuse for his bullshite is blaming Buddy for nominating a white repub for a democratic spot. Two things:
It was a nomination for someone who wished to be considered. Buddy didn't even vote for the person.
And it was a nomination and a vote. The council did it's job. This was an attempt to do the complete opposite.

The demographics of the Parish haven't moved drastically in the last 10 years. And with that a largely unelectable candidate only needed 2% more of his party's registered voters to show up and vote for him in 2016.
(East) Baton Rouge at this point needs to avoid the flight to other parishes. The biggest advantage for practical, conservative leadership in this Parish is actually the Mayor-President and Metro Council system.
As someone that lives in BR proper, I know that St. George is one of the only options remaining to do this. It will, hopefully, provide a sound public school district and a promising opportunity for the people that choose to reside there. What it will also do is bolster the silent, but powerful, middle class of the Parish. Keeping their votes in EBR will allow for the practical leadership I referenced earlier to be elected and will also maintain the 7-5 majority that most of the NBR residents don't like.
Don't give up just yet.
