What does she mean with this? How can a member of the council make a statement like this?

I think my favorite is how people like Gravy and Helmet attack all the Republicans for voting along party lines calling them white supremacist, etc but they attack Tara for NOT voting along party lines.
Somehow, they do not see the irony in it.

What the hell is BR going to look like in 20 years? I was hoping to stay here until I retire, but I don't think I'll make it that long.

BR = Screwed. St. George = the future

This should not come as a surprise. Chauna is not an intelligent or an intellectual woman.
She promoted FEMA fraud after the 2016 flood and software piracy.
She struggled last night reading, not actually having to put together, sentences from her phone. She believes that if she is loud, she "wins" the argument and makes her point. Unfortunately, the people in her district fall for it and that is how she keeps getting elected to the BR Metro Council.

I understand she's not a smart woman, but that's a flat out threat she made.

Gravy needs some FB jail for that nonsense and hyperbole he posted. Maybe now he will go find a new city to pester.

It’s blatant hypocrisy, not irony.

No, no, no... the new name is Wakanda.

Chauna is gonna dress like the Hamburglar until Christmas? Awesome.

I think in the future if a case for an appointment comes up, you are not allowed to talk at the MC meeting unless you live in the district (besides the council members). Gravy, Chauna and their ilk shipped in people from all over NBR to oppose it but those in the district approved of Denise.
I'll also never understand how the 4 council members, Gravy, etc think they could have gotten a black, progressive democrat into a seat held by a white male republican and the voters of that district would have been ok with it. This wasn't a parish wide position and they wanted to completely ignore the voters in the district in question (I saw Helmet COMPLETELY deflected when someone asked her about this).

Her legal career will be pretty funny. I can see her bringing up Brown vs. Board of Education in defense of her client's cocaine possession.

Imagine if the council member that died was a black democrat ... they'd be arguing that having the spouse take their place is the way it's always been done and the way it should be done now.
The ONLY thing these people care about is skin color.

I wouldn't imagine she spends a whole lot of time in court. No reputable firm or other lawyer is going to hire and retain her. I would imagine she will be "counsel" for a few non-profits. This will be one of those cases where you pay all this money for law school and never get back what you invested.

i'm sure she will get on with a number of firms. probably will end up doing criminal defense or, at worst, family law
a state job is also a likely path. Southern + her connections are all about those state jobs

I’m going to be honest. One of the most difficult moments of tonight was watching black people afraid to step to the mic and speak. People who didn’t want to be cut off. People who didn’t want to be subjected to standing in a line. People who didn’t want to subject themselves to having less time to speak, because a one white man said they got less time to speak.
This didn’t happen in 1918, it happened tonight in 2018.
goddamn Gravy was melting last night

So the dysfunction of the council was on full public display last night. Now imagine how bad it is behind the scenes on a daily basis.
If this is the “unity” that the council and the mayor are constantly talking about then there is no hope for the parish of EBR
