What if the steel used for military-grade projects was made-inferior by our enemies as a method to weaken? What if Hussein knew and authorized? Renegade.

That is a closely-guarded national security Secret. If China was paying her off, then, the USA would NEVER allow that Secret to be revealed.

Not excusing the behavior of the person signing the tests, but you have to take away opportunity. I don't believe this was a solo job either, no way.
Is this the first time you're finding out that the "strongest" military in the world was built by the lowest bidder?

Bet you wouldn't need many guesses where most of that steel was being sourced from...

Is a member of several ASTM committees, writes policy, etc.
Said there shouldn’t have been three-plus decades without oversight to her work.

I was expecting the kicker to be it saved a struggling company millions or something similar, not that she found the tests to be “stupid”

Thomas faces up to 10 years in prison and a $1 million fine when she is sentenced in February. However, the Justice Department said it would recommend a prison term at the low end of whatever the court determines is the standard sentencing range in her case.
What the frick?!
At a MINIMUM it’s life in prison unless she can prove she is not a fricking Chinese spy
She sabotaged billions of dollars of equipment

I've seen this somewhere...
For the life of me...?

That's what the milspec is for...
Now they get DR'd until they are tested

Even the big evil oil companies send third party inspectors (like Bureau Veritas) to their supplier's facilities.

Yeah that’s what I’m wondering too.
Also, what metallugically was falsified specifically?

Sounds like the charpy impact test.

It’s pretty amazing she did this for 20 plus years with no issues.
Apparently she was correct in the sense that It doesn’t mean much if the subs never had issues lol.

one possibility is her company underbid the contract, and when they realized the losses incurred, made up the difference with lowering the standards of the contract. Happens all the time, in every industry.

Yea, I was expecting there to be some financial incentive, like making a bunch on money on sub-par material.
Apparently, her company didn't even know she was doing it.
Looks like she was just lazy and/or stubborn.

She needs to be put up against the wall for this. Her laziness could cost an entire sub crew to be lost.
Biden’s DOJ shockingly thinks otherwise

She suggested that in some cases she changed the tests to passing grades because she thought it was “stupid” that the Navy required the tests to be conducted at negative-100 degrees Fahrenheit (negative-73.3 degrees Celsius).
I deal with a lot of stupid specs that architects and engineers require. But I’m not dealing with 100 people trapped in a bubble Under water.
