For something like what you're talking about, I'd guess somewhere around $1,500 give or take. He had several fire pits for sale at our rally similar to the ones I posted on page 1 that were around that price and up. I'm not sure if I can get his info but if you want I can check with our mother chapter and see if they've still got it. One other thing is you'd probably have to have it pay to have it shipped from either Minnesota or North Dakota. I'm not sure but I think he's based in one of those two places.

Apparently there's a weak spot on the right side.

I got a buddy of mine who's artistic and handy with a plasma cutter, may see if he's up for it. If not, I know how to find you.

That is very very awesome. He should make a Death Star one too. I like the dragon one the best.

Eta: I see now...

Your idea of the metal ring is a good one. Is it working well?

I looked at fire brick as well but it would have cost me twice as much for fire bricks just to line it as it did for the metal ring.

Even before building it, I was always concerned if the adhesive would hold up to the heat or would the heat crack the bricks. As I said though, I went a year without any issues before getting the metal liner. I would feel the bricks all around the pit to see how hot they were getting. Bricks were air temp or just slightly warm on the outside, on the bottom 3 layers, and the top layer would get fairly warm to moderately hot, depending on how long the fire was going. But I never had an issue with heat cracks or adhesive slippage. I saw those metal rings on eBay a few months after I built it and thought that would be a good idea to help reflect the heat inward and keep some of it off the brick. To ease my mind I order them and put them in. Ideally, I would have built the pit around the metal ring and left a 3-4" gap between the ring and bricks to fill with lava rock to create and even better insulation layer. But just like everything else in my life, I did it arse backwards.

As stated, I've used it for going on 3 cold seasons now and it's been problem free.

Perfect size for family gatherings. Can get a nice big fire going in that 3' x 3' area.

We did a brick one mainly because the ring was already there. Prior people had a sugar kettle I think that they took when they moved. This was the easiest option for our situation. Kids like hot dogs/marshmallows etc. Works for us.

10-4. Yeah, if you've got someone local that can make one, you'll probably come out cheaper going that way. I'd imagine by the time you paid freight on one from the vendor I know about you'd have close to $2,000 in the thing.

If you are in the BR area there is a Mexican pottery place on Airline in Pville. They sell some huge chimeneas. Mine stands roughly 4' I would guess and I think it was $125???? They have one that is closer to 6' tall with a huge opening and I think it was $250 ish????

First person I've ever heard of buying something from that place. I always wonder who buys those giant metal chickens

Go to Brian's in Port Allen. Buy one of the mini cast iron sugar kettles. They have a 3-4 foot diameter. Get someone to make a stand and style it how you want. Total cost should be less than 600$. I did it and started a thread on here looking for a metal fab shop willing to help me. They put fleur d'lis on my stand and made it really nice. (It was a Christmas present for Mrs Corleone)

I just looked into this. Too bad the 3' cast iron kettles are selling for $750 without a stand. The stand they sell is another $200. Im not spending $1000 on a damn fire pit.

He is in Clinton about 30 mins north of BR. The pricing depends on size and how complex.
