Maybe the players should focus less on being woke and more on the sport that’s allowed them to rise to fame and fortune.

This shite would have never happened to Michael, Chuck, and crew.

I don’t put much weight on that. If we trotted our very best players out there things would be different.

It’s way more than that, the fact is the gap between US and others is a stream not a River like it used to be.

Get out of here. Our team is still stacked compared to the other OLY rosters.

Offensively:
Damian Lillard
Devin Booker
Kevin Durant
Jayson Tatum
Kris Middleton

Defensively:
Bam Adebayo
Draymond Green
Jrue Holiday

I guess the tri-fecta of:
Rudy Gobert, Evan Fournier, and Batum are world beaters.

or maybe the Australian roster of:
Patty Mills, Delladova, Thybulle, and Joe Ingles

or the Nigeria roster of:
Who the frick knows.

I guess Fournier scored 28 because USA players were thinking about BLM?

Get out of here with your weak argument. It’s not our best team so I don’t put any weight in it. Zero weight.

Big deal. As basketball caught on in the rest of the world that gap was bound to shrink. This isn’t 1968.

Your argument is that we don't have our best talent so you won't put weight into a loss? Even though Team USA's talent is already top class.

How is that a strong argument? Talent isn't the issue on this team making your argument moot.

You could argue that team roster isn't compatible , poor coaching, coming off a long arse season, dumb arse COVID-19 issues, lack of player urgency, etc.

You can use any of those arguments but blaming talent isn't one of them.

They are 1-3 as a team so far. If we lose to Iran might as well come home

This is basically like a team of NBA all-stars losing to a middle-of-the-pack NBA team. All those guys on France are good enough to make it a game, but this is obviously a chemistry, coaching, and culture problem.

To be honest, I'm not even mad. I don't know who on this team has the heart to go out and win gold. Maybe Lillard? I don't know.

I am not sure why people are hating on them. Its still the USA. But this team isn't no Dream Team.

Durant & Draymond Green are the two best players (I say this considering what Draymond brings defensively). Middleton, Lillard & Booker are 2nd tier..

Compare this roster to:
David Robinson
Patrick Ewing
Larry Bird
Scottie Pippen
Michael Jordon
Clyde Drexler
Karl Malone
John Stockton
Chris Mullen
Charles Barkley
Magic Johnson

And the college player... Christian Laettner

That roster was sick. Speaking of John Stockton, dude was really good, but I didn't realize how much respect he got on the court, I was watching something awhile back and an older player was talking about players would get nervous when they had to pick up stockton because he would make anyone look silly.

Then David Robinson & Patrick Ewing. With them in the game at the same time, there is no one driving in to try to score. Jordan, Bird & Magic.. Well all you have to do is say their names. Barkley was just so physical..

If Barkley played in today's NBA, he would probably get suspended so much, he wouldn't be able to be as effective as he was when he played. And Shaq should have been on that team instead of Laettner.

Even back then, I remember thinking Laettner wasn't going to be much in the pros. He got picked because of what he achieved at Duke, which is fair I guess. But as good as Shaq was, he still had some growing to do in his game.. Where as Laettner, he was as good as he was going to get..

Anyway, this USA team is not this team in 1992 or like the other Olympic teams.

NBA rules and style of play has made these players soft as tissue paper.

This!
This!
This!

Big men in the NBA have been turned into 3 pt shooters who can’t patrol the paint anymore. Defense has been ruled out and stars get preferential calls.
That doesn’t work in the olympics.

They should take college guys who are just good enough for the NBA and make a team and keep them together. Maybe sprinkle in a star or two when the Olympics come along.
