I normally dont buy expensive dress shoes, but did splurge on some Zegnas last year.

They look amazing and are very comfortable.

From the Thomas Bird website - I'll put this in the category of I would never buy but at the same time as an LSU fan I'm tempted.

I have some black lace-up Bruno Magli’s... soft and comfy. Most of the other dress shoes are J&M or equivalent. 6-8 pair. Plus boots, loafers, sandals, etc.

I wear running shoes 90% of the time for work. So, unless we have an event, or I’m dressing up to go out, they just take up space and collect dust.

Allen Edmonds, 5 pair

3 wingtip lace ups, 2 brown 1 black
1 loafer
1 wingtip lace up boot

stick with the best brand, I know every time I need a new pair the shoe will fit the exact same. When they get worn, send them in, come back fresh and fit the exact same.

I’m more of a Johnston and Murphy guy. I like the Allens but I don’t see the need to drop $375+ every time I need a replacement.

AE runs major sales twice a year. My last pair of Carlyles cost $295. I purchased that pair so that I have something to wear when I send my old pair of Carlyles to be recrafted for the third time. They will come back looking nearly brand new, and it will only cost me $125.

How long does it take to have a back up?

What all do they do? Re-sole, buff out major scuffs? How about deeper cuts?

LINK

FAQ is at the bottom. Nothing they can do about deep cuts in the upper.

Amazon. Just look up waxed laces and get the color/length you want. They usually come in a 2 pack.

Found the Hanger Project...waxed round Sovereign grade. Just need to figure out length. I’ll get these back in if I take them out.

I have a few pairs of Allen Edmonds, but my black shoes are their Shreveport model, woven, and they've told me they won't recraft those when the sole wears out. I might look at a pair of Alden's then.

I also like the purple Thomas Birds a few posts up from this, and unlike that poster I would buy those and wear to a game if they were comfortable.

Edit: I see they're $460 in purple. Disregard.

Based on a quick search of my email, looks like their anniversary sale is in April and their Rediscover America sale is in October.

Thanks. I noticed they're having a sale right now also. A clearance sale. But there's really not much there I'm interested in

You’re welcome.

Every once and a while, something interesting will pop up on clearance, but I don’t hold my breath for it. The two sales I mentioned usually have 15%-20% reductions on their major classic styles.

I got the 32" and next time I buy, I'll go 30". They don't droop or look bad, but a little shorter would look cleaner

60cm is what I bought. Hopefully it’s not a slow boat from Europe.
