I've never seen who the victim was. Don't want to if I can help it, just in case I know her, I'd rather not know about this.
ETA: She was Dennis' mistress. His wife Cynthia was the one that was in all of the other crimes.

Even if she participated in other crimes the video of this crime with her in the act was the headshot.
RS 14:42: D.(1) Whoever commits the crime of aggravated rape shall be punished by life imprisonment at hard labor without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence.
When you have clear (apparently) video of her committing a life without crime it makes a lot of sense just to nail her on it instead of possibly muddying the waters with less clear crimes.

I don’t understand why this case hasn’t been bigger news nationally. The only reason why I’m familiar with it is because of the OT.

It isn't on the news outside the immediate area so you would have had to see the OT threads.

The reason it hit home with me is because my daughter was a student of Perkins at the time when all this went down. Luckily we did not get one of those dreaded calls from the Livingston School Board as my daughter never ate anything in her class.
Part of this case was an incident where Perkins allegedly ejaculated into cupcake batter. Then Cynthia made the cupcakes, fed them to some of her students, and recorded them eating them so he could see the video. Parents of those kids on video were called into the school board for 1-1 meetings to explain the situation. My daughter claims some of the students involved are still really screwed up mentally and in therapy.

She wasn't involved in any of the child stuff as best anyone can tell. When they went through all of his media, they found a video of Curtin and Perkins doing sexual things to Perkins' passed out partner. They ID'd the victim via tattoo and the ID was years after the actual incident.
The scary part is there are likely other mistresses who have participated in other terrible events like the one on video that either didn't get recorded or the video was destroyed and the victims and public will never know. If that's true, those women have to be shitting bricks daily
