He's being praised because he acted so quickly, put down a threat, and inarguably saved lives. For the purpose of praise, it doesn't matter what the piece of shite was or wasn't, just that he was stopped with a quickness.
I'm one of the first to rail on officers for shitty things they do, so it would be hypocritical to not raise them up when they are a massive positive to the public.

My man, your assumptions are wrong. If this guy is like any other cop or military guy I know - doing the JOB by saving innocents life IS to be celebrated. Yes, when things slow down he will have it on his mind, but in no way will he regret his actions. And yes, he wants a motha fuggin parade.
