White people loved Mohammed Ali years after he did the same thing.
But Ali gave up his prime willingly for his stance.
Kaep would sign a contract tomorrow for "owner" Bob Mcnair and his gang of prisoners, without a second thought, if he was offered one.
There is a pretty substantial difference.

Well it didn’t workout the way he planned it would and to this day I’d bet he regrets it.
He has millions in his pocket and probably doesn't buy a meal anywhere his worshipers work/frequent

So you’re saying it worked out the way he planned?

Deserves it. Guy is ballsy.
How you figure that? It’s not as if he was a superstar quarterback who sacrificed everything for some principles. He got, what he deserved though in being sent home, and he got what he wanted in attention, so I suppose in the end everything worked out for all concerned. The NFL was through with him, and he got the people who wouldn’t pay attention to him for his athletic ability to pay attention to him still for his non football related antics.

He lived in a time when oppression was real.
You are probably one of those guys that think these modern day athletes have a lot in common with the slaves too.

And it likely got him laid by his activist girlfriend. Or, maybe not.

Did your dumb arse really compare Ali’s situation to Kap? Let get my reading glasses just to be sure

I think it kept his name in the headlines longer than it would have been on his skill.
Not sure what his plan was. If it was to bring attention then it more than worked.

quote:Oh I don't think he had any idea what kind of hell he would catch or he wouldn't have done it. It got to a point where he was in too deep and just had to stick with it. Privately, he's probably kicking himself for ever taking a knee in the first place.
It was what he felt was right. He did so knowing that he would catch hell for kneeling or sitting.

He fought in Atlanta 3 years after his ban and conviction, but still went through the process of being arrested, banned, charged, etc... for his "belief".
Keap has undergone ridicule from half the country...that's it. HE might be a backup somewhere without his stance, but his skills + stance = not worth it

I wish that everyone was this honest.
If their goal is to sell magazines, which it should be, then this isn't the right approach to capture my dollars.
However, it's highly unlikely I was going to spend money on a GQ magazine regardless of who they put on the cover as their citizen of the year.
The Kaepernik approach might very well sell more magazines than if they had just gone with a safe choice.

Do you think he gives a shite that "half" the country is ridiculing him? That isn't the half he is doing this for.
Every week he is out his cause is emboldened. He likely isn't worth a backup spot on a roster, but every time it is brought up his supporters cling to the storyline.
Y'all are really missing his cause.

I respect his conviction even though I believe he's ignorant about most things.

Also featuring the king of late night melting, Stephen Colbert and Kevin Durant of the Golden State (Social Justice) Warriors. GQ went all in on SJW for this issue.
