Blame Congress. Blame Trump.

Congress has taken no action to extend the temporary ACA subsidies, so the system will revert to the original rules. Low-income enrollees will continue receiving support, but about 1.6 million higher-income households will lose the expanded subsidies created during the pandemic. Premiums continue to rise, and lawmakers have not advanced broader reforms to address long-standing affordability problems in the individual market.

In 2017, Trump said he would replace the ACA with a plan that would provide lower premiums, lower deductibles, and the same or better coverage for everyone, but no replacement legislation passed. As a result, the underlying issues remain unchanged, and Congress has not moved to alter the current trajectory.ory.

Free care, minimum deductibles, over use has dragged prices up. Everyone should pay at least $250 per month, a 20 percent co pay and at least a $1000 deductible.

We have a 1.5 Trillion dollar deficit EACH YEAR. Trump isn’t cutting anything , the Covid sub are expiring and we have NO money to extend them. Frankly we could if we would cut Medicaid because 30 percent goes to non medical spending. Look around , there are rehab clinics, speech programs, behavioral clinics on every corner. All paid by Medicaid.

My insurance is $627 and includes dental. I'm using it right now getting a blood transfusion.
Glad to have it. Would be a lot less with aca subs but my options are limited being self employed.

JESUS

At what point is it cheaper to skip insurance, invest your premiums privately and pay everything out of an HSA

Put him on payroll at minimum wage and form a 2 man group with BCBS. You or he can then deduct his premiums. Rates and coverage may also be better.

My BCBS plan has been an absolute clusterfrick today trying to get my insulin, insulin pump, and glucose monitor. Last year it was $25-$50 copay per month for each of those, today the pharmacy calls me and asks if my insurance changed because now it's showing $1000 per month. No one at BCBS or the new PBM has a clue. Their answer was "have you considered trying to find a coupon?"

That Luigi guy may not have been all that wrong

Medical Insurance Doubled

uncompensated care.

There are millions of people (illegals and those on gubmint benefits) who have no insurance or limited insurance and do not have the means to pay.

Alot of them go to the er for colds and basic shite like that because they have limited means to get an appointment outside of the er with a doc,pa or np because of the lack of insurance. At some point, the healthcare industry (hospitals/clinics/personel) needs to be compensated for all services rendered, those that have the means are charged more.

Then add in the lawyers as a cherry on top.
The whole healthcare system needs to be revamped, don't know what that looks when you have a large % of the population that does not contribue at all, and everyone else pays what they pay...

when millions of people are given free heathcare services, somebody is on the hook to pay for it.

While trump didnt do enough to fix the issues, he didnt get us to where we are today, he didnt let millions people into the united states and agree to pay their way through life...

Some of you window lickers have completely lost you're minds over trump, he'll be gone in 3 years and you'll be a loon for the rest of your life..get grip.

Obama care has doubled most people's insurance in last few years

When a govt program/law to supposedly make health care affordable requires additional govt subsidies to actually be affordable it’s past time to reverse course.

Covid obamacare subsidies should have ended years ago and not been renewed for 3 years by Biden’s Autopen, but at a minimum that renewal should have seen annual scaled reductions to the covid subsidies to end up eliminating them by the same date - Jan 1, 2026.

It’s driving inflated healthcare prices for the rest of the country who have already been dealing with increasing premiums and out of pocket fees since obamacare kicked in.

Seriously???

obamacare and Biden’s Autopen along with the Dem controlled congress at the time renewing covid subsidies for obamacare for 3 years to mask its failures are the reason for inflated premiums.

Congress has taken no action to extend the temporary ACA subsidies
They should not have been extended in the first place by Dems back under Biden’s Autopen, and they should not be extended again. They caused inflated premiums for everyone and just hid the growing problem of obamacare.

quote:

In 2017, Trump said he would replace the ACA with a plan that would provide lower premiums,
RINOS in Congress failed on this not Trump. Not sure the Dems would have allowed a vote in the Senate on a solid replacement, but it didn’t even get that far. Ryan looked like the waterboy’s coach backing away from the spotlight instead putting up the solution he had said for years beforehand would work.

Blame Congress. Blame Trump.

Blame Biden’s Autopen and the Democratic controlled congress in 2021 and 2022 for extending these covid related obamacare subsidies and specifically ending them cold turkey on Jan 1st, 2026 instead of gradually lowering them the last few years as covid was over and extension unnecessary. Quit blaming Republicans and Trump for obamacare and these covid subsidies ending in 2026 that your brethren enacted into law. The Dems used covid to extend these covid subsidies to hide the full effect of what obamacare had become instead of offering up solutions.

Typical Dem solution was to push more bad govt to solve existing issues created by the bad govt they previously created.

So where is that repeal and replace option he said he’d do in 2017?

The temporary Covid-era “juiced” subsidies expired, which is what Biden signed into law in 2021. The Covid era subsidies were never meant to be permanent

Correct, they were originally set up to end at the end of 2022 until the Dem controlled congress and Biden’s Autopen extended them for an extra 3 years.

Ask the RHINOs in congress at the time and today.

Do you understand how laws are made?
