I didn't see any ridicule, just a reporting of the events. Not news but it is an entertainment site, that is what they do.

Lots of actors don't make it big, the vast majority don't, it isn't ridicule to report that fact.

Cosby Show ended 25 years ago.

Do these people think a bit player on a big show is living large off residuals?

You have people who were actual stars at one point going into bankruptcy trying to keep a lifestyle that MIGHT let them catch a new project occasionally.

Has he acted in anything since The Cosby Show? Has he been looking for acting work?

Owens’ career started in the ‘80s and he immediately hit it off when he became part of “The CosbyShow”. He joined the hit sitcom in its last five seasons, playing the role of Elvin Tibideaux. He stayed with the show until 1992 and it opened up other opportunities for him, as well as his performance in the show earning him a Young Artist Award in 1989, and a TV Land Award in 2011. “The Cosby Show” helped his career and also his net worth tremendously.

After the hit show, Owens appeared in various television series, and once again became a regular in a new show entitled “Built to Last”, in which he appeared for eight episodes. Since then he has appeared in a number of varied shows including “Stonebrook”, “Law & Order”, “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit”, “That’s So Raven”, “Boston Legal”, “The Wedding Bells”, “Without a Trace”, “Las Vegas”, and “Medium”. He has also starred in TV-movies’ “In the Mix” and “Action Auto”. His various appearances in roles also helped him in his wealth.

In 2007, Owens made his directing debut when he directed the episode “Side Effects May Include Night Terrors” of the TV series “Life from the Inside”, which opened another door, and contributed to his net worth.
Another one of Owens’ most memorable performances came in the 2008 movie “Play The Game”., in which he appeared alongside Andy Griffith, Paul Campbell, Liz Sheridan and Doris Roberts in the romantic comedy.

After “Play the Game”, Owens went back to television, and appeared in “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”, “The Left Overs”, “The Affair”, and “The Slap” during the next several years, adding consistently to his net worth.

Today, Owens is still active in acting. Some of his most recent appearances have included the TV series “Divorce”, “Blue Bloods” and “Lucifer”. He also teaches acting classes at HB Studion in New York.
In terms of his personal life, Owens is married to actress Josette Owens.

LINK Here's his IMDB.

Regardless of how much Cosby paid him, the subsequent gigs aren't biggies.

He does have a family to support.

Faded Cosby Show star Geoffrey Owens is now a “starving actor” working as a cashier at Trader Joe’s! An exclusive RadarOnline.com investigation discovered Owens — who played Elvin Tibideaux on the long-running sitcom — scanning groceries in Clifton, N.J., for around $11 an hour.

That man is working hard to make a living. He had some good times, but those days are over. Good for him to do whatever it takes to stay on his feet. I am very proud of this man. It show me that he has great courage and a strong will.
People like him are what makes America Great.

Fox show "The Five" did a piece on it praising Owens for working an honest job and ridiculed the skinny armed members of the press that were trying to throw shade on him.

A lot of stuff. He had 4 roles this year already. He has also done some directing. His acting career has hit the point where he gets roles, but nothing high dollar anymore. I bet his residual money also went down with the Cosby problems.

Basically, Trader Joes helps ends meet. And those who belittle him for doing what he needs to do are pretty low on the evolutionary scale.

People are so hateful. I’m sure Elvin had to swallow his pride and take that job. He should be commended and not ridiculed. This type of shite really pisses me off.

I agree with most of this, but why should he be commended for having a job and trying to make a living?
